Activity overview

An accessible introduction to glacier travel

Hike up to Blüemlisalp hut where you will stay overnight high in the alps and learn about glaciers and the surrounding area. The next day embark on an exhilarating day of glacier exploration at the breathtaking Blumlisalp Glacier, nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps. You will get to experience the awe-inspiring beauty and challenge of a glacier, equipped with crampons, a rope, and an ice axe.

Day 1

Meet your guide in front of the Chalet, equipment check   08:30
Take the gondola up and walk to Blüemlisalp Hut  09:30
Arrive at the hut 17:30
Dinner 18:00
Introduction about Glaciers and Briefing 19:00
Equipment talk 20:00
Free Time 21:00

 

Day 2

Breakfast and prepare to go back onto the glacier  07:00
Walk down to the glacier, put crampons on 08:00
Crampon and Ice Axe technique 08:30
Glacier Walk 09:30
Pack up all equipment and have lunch 12:15
Walk back to Oeschinensee 13:00
Take the gondola down and walk back to KISC 16:15
Arrive back to the Centre 17:00

This activity is not available on Saturday or Sunday.

  • Price adult: CHF 200.00
  • Price child: CHF 200.00
Price includes Oeschinensee gondola return tickets, overnight in the hut, dinner (no drinks included) and breakfast at the hut, specialist equipment and a trained guides.

Equipment 

All participants must have everything on the list. If a participant does not have all of the required items, they will not be able to join the activity.

  • Rucksack - 20 to 40 litres
  • Hiking boots with ankle support (no trainers)
  • Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers
  • Warm clothing - long trousers, fleece, warm hat and gloves (no jeans)
  • Sun protection - sun cream, sunglasses, sun hat
  • Water bottle - 2 litres
  • Food - packed lunch and snacks
  • Personal medication (asthma inhalers, etc.)
  • Pocket money (optional)

Extra equipment for overnight activities:

  • Sheet sleeping bag liner (not a regular sleeping bag)
  • Torch
