Enjoy the awesome scenery around Oeschinensee and arrive at the Fründen Hut (2’562m) in time for an amazing sunset. On the second day, ice axe skills, roping up, crevasse rescue and glacier travel skills are taught and practised. A great workshop for those interested in learning new skills or exploring the Alps. No experience needed but good hiking fitness is essential.

Day 1

12:30 Meet your guide in front of the Chalet, equipment check
13:00 Take the gondola up and walk to Fründen Hut
17:30 Arrive at the hut and relax
18:30 Eat dinner at the hut
19:30 Fitting crampons and briefing for day 2
20:00 Free time

Day 2 

07:00 Breakfast and prepare to go back onto the glacier
08:00 Walk down to the glacier, put crampons on and rope up 
08:15 Walk across the glacier, stopping for activities along the way
12:00 Rope up and walk back to the hut
12:15 Pack up all equipment and have lunch
13:00 Walk back to Oeschinensee
16:15 Take gondola down and walk back to KISC
17:00 Arrive back at Centre
Pricing

  • Price Adult: CHF 160.00
  • Price Child:  CHF 160.00

Price includes: a KISC Guide for the duration of the trip and a qualified Swiss Mountain Guide whilst on the glacier, climbing equipment, overnight at Fründen Hut, dinner, breakfast and the cable car up to and down from Oeschinensee.

Guest cancellation:

  • Less than 7 days before activity: fee of 50% of the price per person
  • Less than 48 hours in advance: non-refundable
Important information 
  • This hike is not available to start on Saturdays
  • A leader or responsible person over 18 years old must be present as part of the group
  • A sheet sleeping bag liner is required for the overnight. If you do not have one then you can rent a sleeping bag liner from Reception for a CHF 3.00 fee and CHF 50.00 deposit.
  • There is no potable water at Frunden Hut. One liter of hut tea will be provided per person with breakfast day 2. 
  • Food and drinkis (snacks and traditional Swiss lunch) are available for purchase at Frunden Hut. 
  • Hot chocolate is included with all breakfasts. Coffee is available for purchase with breakfast. 
  • A sheet sleeping bag liner is required for the overnight. If you do not have one then you can rent a sleeping bag liner from Reception for a CHF 3.00 fee and CHF 50.00 deposit.
Equipment 

All participants must have everything on the list. If a participant does not have all of the required items, they will not be able to join the activity.

  • Rucksack - 20 to 40 litres
  • Hiking boots with ankle support (no trainers)
  • Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers
  • Warm clothing - long trousers, fleece, warm hat and gloves (no jeans)
  • Sun protection - sun cream, sunglasses, sun hat
  • Water bottle - 2 litres
  • Food - packed lunch and snacks
  • Personal medication (asthma inhalers, etc.)
  • Pocket money (optional)

Extra equipment for overnight activities:

  • Sheet sleeping bag liner (not a regular sleeping bag)
  • Torch
  • Food - dinner and breakfast
