Work Parties

What are Work Parties?

Work Parties are a hidden treat for Scouts that the Kandersteg International Scout Centre provides in the quieter weeks of the low seasons in Spring and Autumn, dedicated to getting the campsite and buildings ready for the next season or other special projects around the centre.

With a Work Party, typically around 8-10 people join the KISC staff for a week and have the chance to experience the lifestyle at KISC as they join and work alongside the pinkies on completing various projects across KISC.

Work Party members work for 3 and a half days, with 3 and a half days of free time, with food and accommodation provided for the duration of their stay.

How do you get involved?

Work Parties are coordinated by each country's National Scout Organisations or Associations, with one work party typically being sent per country.

If your country already has a Work Party, you will need to get in contact with your NSO/NSA and the Work Party organisers to find out how to get involved.

If your country doesn't have a Work Party yet, with approval from your NSO/NSA, you can start the process of forming a new Work Party to come to KISC. If you'd like to lead a Work Party for your country, please get in touch.
