August 1st Parade

Activity overview

Every year on the 1st of August, people across Switzerland celebrate the country's National Day with parades, bonfires and fireworks. Also on the same day, in the year 1907, several boys came together with Robert Baden Powell to begin the world's first Scout camp on Brownsea Island in England.

Here at KISC, we celebrate both of these events on August 1st! Our guests and staff from around the world come together for a really special day, full of international fun, friendship and adventure! This day will give all of our guests the opportunity to feel the atmosphere of international friendship unique to KISC, and to feel the realisation of B.P.'s dream of a permanent mini jamboree. Meet the world in the Alps at August 1st!

Schedule

The day begins with everyone joining together for the opening ceremony outside the chalet at 13:30 with Alp horns. You then have the opportunity to join the drop-in activities** that will be on offer around the Scout Centre. All of these activities will run from early afternoon until 6pm, followed by a chill and grill BBQ! The day will finish up with our famous William Tell Play on the campsite, then the yearly Kandersteg fireworks which will happen in front of the historic Chalet.
