The event is organised in partnership with WOSM and the Messenger of Peace Programme. This Summer, Kandersteg International Scout Centre welcomed 30 Rovers from all around the world for ten days of Rover Programme filled with International Friendship, Eco Adventure and Exploration of the Alps.
“I loved International Rover Week! Made friends from the whole world but also overcame difficulties and challenges. Grew up as a new person and as a Scout”.
30 Rovers had the chance to experience what it means to be Rovers in this modern world and tackled issues and topics concerning all of us. Topics around the Better World Framework were worked on. Reflecting on the Environmental Programme, the Rover Week Participants spend a day on a Service Project.
UNESCO World Heritage Service Project is coordinated between Kandersteg International Scout Centre and UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch region, aimed to conserve the Swiss Alps through actions made by Scout and Rover groups.
The Rover Week participants and event coordinators spend their day in Gasterntal, Gfellalp and Lötschenpass, helping local farmers to clear the Alps of rocks and other debris to allow restoration of the local habitants. In total, 264 Service Hours was achieved. We are grateful for the impact our participants had in our local environment.
The International Rover Week Centenary Edition 2018 showed the power and Magic of the movement. Together Rovers can move mountains and spread the will for change within their local Scouts, families and communities.
