You need to be an ex-Staff of KISC to apply as a Helper. As a PR & Marketing Helper, you will work together with the PR & Marketing Long-Term Staff. If you would like to come back to KISC in the busiest period and have a positive attitude towards work in all the different areas of the Centre, we look forward to receiving your application

  • Has previously been a member of the staff team at KISC
  • Needs to be at least 18 years old
  • Is a member of an Association recognised by WOSM/ WAGGGS
  • Communicates well in written and spoken English
  • Be in good physical condition to join off-site programme, such as hiking and climbing
  • Have completed the WOSM Safe from Harm course (SfH2)

Essential

  • Ability to work within an international team of volunteers

  • Willingness to work according to a flexible schedule
  • Previous experience with Photography and/ or Videography

Desirable

  • Has an active scouting life
  • Ability to bring own equipment
  • Support the PR & Marketing Team with photography, videography, photo/ video editing, social media, and other daily work
  • Capture and create a wide range of content for the Centre’s communications according to the needs assessed by the PR & Marketing Team
  • Join on-site and off-site guided programme, such as hiking, climbing and workshops, for photographic and videography coverage

General

Helpers provide great support for the Centre during busy times or special events, working very closely with the Short Term Staff and Long Term Staff

Line manager

The line manager for this position is one of the Deputy Directors of the Centre. Daily work is supervised by Long Term Staff from different teams

Team management

Helpers will have regular contact with other members of the Short and Long Term Staff team, and it are essential to create a good working relationship and honest communication with them. Helpers must understand, respect and follow current KISC Staff rules and regulations during their entire stay

 

Insurance

  • Accident Insurance (provided by the Centre): Everyone is insured for accidents, both work and non-work related while working at KISC. Dental treatment is only covered if the damage was caused by an accident.
  • If you are accepted as a Helper, we strongly recommend that you arrange your own private travel insurance to cover sickness, routine dental treatment, travel to and from Kandersteg, and other cases/material that you consider important, as this is not provided by the Centre.

  • Shared Accommodation with other Helpers
  • All meals at the Centre, both while at work and on days off
  • 2 days off per week when working for at least one full week
  • Staff Night Out during the work period, a regular evening of programme organised by staff
  • A special green “helper” scarf for 1 week of volunteering or more. A Helper only ever receives 1 helper scarf regardless of how many times they have helped.
  • Accident insurance both on days off and during work
  • All bedding and towels, shampoo, soap and other basic toiletries
  • Basic first aid items
  • Laundry facilities
  • Helpers who volunteer for less than a week (7 days), get an additional period up to the same number of days as their work period, with food and accommodation provided by the Centre. These extra days count as/include days off.
  • Helpers who volunteer for more than a week (7 days), get up to 7 extra days, with food and accommodation provided by the Centre. These extra days don’t count as/ include the days off during the volunteering time.

Other

  • Helpers are responsible for securing their own entry to Switzerland, including Visas if necessary.
  • If a helper would like to stay longer than the agreed amount of time (listed in Benefits), they must pay for accommodation and food at ex-staff prices. After this period, they would also lose the benefits of being KISC Helpers.
