The Deputy Director for Organisational Development (OD) is a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Centre. They are responsible for the management of the PR and Marketing team, Digital Project Manager, Catering Team and Shop Manager. 

The responsibilities include conducting organisational assessments, developing and implementing strategies, facilitating change management, supporting leadership development, analysing data and making recommendations, and collaborating with other departments.

  • Needs to be at least 24 years old
  • Is a member of an Association recognised by WOSM/WAGGGS
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

Essential

  • Leadership & Management skills such as self-organisation, self-motivation, stress resistance, work planning, and interpersonal skills
  • Track record of delivering successful OD projects and supporting organisational change in complex organisations
  • Experience of project management processes and reporting
  • Specific experience of designing and implementing organisational culture change
  • Experience of staff engagement and internal communications
  • Willingness to work according to a flexible schedule
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within strict timelines

Desirable

  • Has previously been a member of staff team at KISC
  • Experience in staff management
  • Experience related to budgeting and basic financial management

Main tasks

  • Creating, overseeing and implementing the strategy for internal communication and knowledge management, including relevant systems
  • Taking the lead on designing and overseeing allocated projects and providing support to others with their projects
  • Working closely in collaboration with other Deputy Directors and Long Term Staff to improve working methods, communication and the smooth running of the operations
  • Manage the operations of PR and Marketing, Catering, Shop and Digital Projects together with the LTS, including staffing, work plans, budgets and financial goals
  • Line Management of up to 9 Long-Term Staff as well as the Hygiene Supervisor.
  • Oversee the relationship with suppliers, contracted companies and partners connected to the four areas of the Centre outlined above
  • Support the coordination and planning of special events
  • Develop an ex-staff engagement and communications strategy, cultivating the members as a valuable part of the centre's network

Other responsibilities

  • Deal with any guest enquiries relating to the Centre
  • Assist in other areas of the Centre where necessary
  • Support the creation and execution of the Centre’s Operational Plan
  • Attend KISC Committee meetings, and provide relevant updates and reports to the KISC Committee / Foundation

Scope of management responsibilities and decision making

  • Knows the formal and informal team and Centre goals, standards, policies and procedures which include familiarity with other teams
  • Agrees on timing of physical presence at the Centre with the Director, whilst ensuring continuous management oversight
  • Is sensitive to the interrelations of both people and functions within the Centre
  • On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service
  • Authority to spend up to CHF 1’000 within the budget

General management

The Organisational Development Director is part of the Senior Leadership Team at the Centre, together with the Director and three other Deputy Directors, Programme Director, Staff Development Director and Guest Services Director.

Line manager

The line manager for this position is the Director. The Organisational Development Director has regular meetings with the line manager to cover operational matters, and also has regular one-on-one appraisals.

Team management

The Organisational Development Director will have regular contact with other members of the Senior Leadership Team and Long-Term Staff team and it is essential to build a good working relationship through honest communication with them.
The Organisational Development Director manages and supervises the LTS in PR and Marketing, Catering, Shop and Digital Project Management.

Insurance

  • Accident Insurance (provided by the Centre): All staff are insured for accidents, both work and non-work related over the duration of the contract.
  • Private Liability Insurance (provided by the Centre): This insurance covers any damage caused by any staff on an object or person.
  • Sickness Insurance (provided by the Centre): All LTS will receive private sickness insurance if necessary. The deductible (the amount each LTS has to cover per calendar year themselves) is, if nothing else mentioned, CHF 300.-. This insurance covers any treatment due to sickness.
  • Social Insurance according to the Swiss Law (provided by the Centre): Every LTS must have Social Insurance according to the Swiss regulations. This includes invalidity insurance, maternity leave and old-age and survivors' insurance (OASI). More information will be given during training.

Visa

  • Citizens of EU/EFTA countries do not need a visa, and the Centre secures the necessary work permit.
  • For citizens of non EU/EFTA countries we would need to apply for a working VISA for you to be able to work at KISC. 
  • The employment is dependent on securing the necessary special permission from the Swiss authorities.
