The hut has beds for 30 people, divided across three rooms. It has a fully equipped kitchen with gas and wood stoves; you do not need to bring any cooking or eating equipment with you. There is also a general living / eating room, and a toilets. Pillows and blankets are provided at the hut but you will need to take a "sheet sleeping bag" with you. Sheets can be borrowed from reception at the chalet for CHF 3.
LOCATION AND ACCESS
The 3 hours to hike to the hut is on a combination of road and hiking path and is suitable for younger scouts. The hike can be made easier by taking the Allmenalp cable car up and hiking around.

There are two options for catering at the hut. The first option is to bring all your own food and make use of the kitchen facilities - gas and use of the kitchen including pots, pans and cutlery are included in the overnight fee. The second option is to book a hut food package. This means you only carry up the fresh ingredients and make use of the dry non-perishable staples stored in the hut. More details on hut food packages can be found here. Please note, you will need to cook for the guide who is up at the hut with you.
WHAT TO BRING
Apart from sheets and the food outlined above, make sure you bring lots of warm clothes and all of the equipment outlined in the Alpine Equipment List [pdf]. It is also a good idea to bring some indoor shoes/slippers if you have them for inside as no hiking boots are allowed inside the hut!
Reservations for the hut can be made from March 1st by emailing the programme team. The hut costs CHF 14 per person per night, to be payed at reception.
The Upper Hut is a dry hut which means that no alcohol is allowed at the hut. Quiet time is from 22:00.
