The Core Programme for the event will be provided over the weekend of 24, 25, 26 February 2023. This is the key weekend within the virtual event, and will enable members of Scouting and Guiding around the globe to take part in a variety of programme opportunities within their own Unit, Patrol or at home. The programme available will promote the ethos of KISC as well as promote the centenary of KISC.

  • At least 18 years old.  

  • Able to communicate in a high level of written and spoken English  

  • Access to a reliable internet connection  

  • Ability to work within a multi-national team to ensure proper execution and results in delivery.  

Essential  

  • Experience of creating and developing a varied programme of activities for a virtual event 

  • Experience of leading a small volunteer team remotely 

  • Excellent English writing skills  

  • Experience with event planning and development for a virtual youth event  

  • Experience using various communication and project management tools (including clickup, sharepoint, WordPress and smartsheet)  

  • Ability to meet project deadlines, and manage multiple tasks at the same time  

  • Experience working as a member of an international team of volunteers  

  • Commitment and ability to volunteer remotely for a long-term period  

  • Ability to work within a multi-national team to ensure proper execution and results in delivery.  

  • Be self-led and take ownership of responsibilities, to ensure professional and efficient task delivery, in a timely manner.  

 

Desirable  

  • Relevant work experience or studies in event management   

  • National, Regional, and/or International Scouting experience  

  • Create and develop a varied programme of activities aimed at young people that will build and promote the KISC objectives to a wide range of people taking part in the programme around the world.  It is anticipated that this will include games, video and social media. 

  • Create and develop written materials to support the programme of both self-led and live activities for the event. 

  • Liaise with the Event Co-leads and other Team Leaders to develop and deliver a successful event in line with the agreed timetable 

  • As a member of the Event Core Team (with the other Team Leaders and the Co-Leads) assist in the planning and execution of the online event. 

  • To lead and co-ordinate the core Programme team for the event, specifically with regard to the teams’ responsibilities 

  • Assist in the selection/recruitment of a team of volunteers to undertake activities allocated to the team 

  • Identify to the Event Co-leads a member(s) of the team with the potential to be appointed as Deputy Team Leader.  Provide support to Deputy Team Leader(s) including supporting and developing their leadership and coordination skills by delegating some responsibilities to them. 

  • Monitor progress of team objectives, and ensure Event Co-leads are aware of any concerns 

  • Assist team members to take an active part if the team and the tasks allocated to the team 

  • Arrange (and lead) virtual meetings of the team 

This volunteering position is supervised by the Co-leads of the Centenary Virtual Event. The role includes responsibility for supporting and leading members of a team.  The post-holder will be part of the wider KISC Centenary Events Team.

Training 

The post holder will be required to undertaken WOSM ‘Safe from Harm’ training.
