My name is Melanie and I come from Northern Ireland.
I really enjoy KISC life when we have lots of guests and Staff so I guess I must have been smiling a lot recently.
The past week I have been incredibly busy helping organise Nordic Day, School Day and preparing Ski Week 8 and 9. This is what we have been up to:
The Pinkies rose to the challenge on the annual Kandersteger Nordic Day fun race. We used our cross country ski "skills" and managed a total of… 37 laps. I blame the Glühwein stands. Somehow we still made it to 12th place and won a prize for our Crazy Pinkie costumes.
On School Day the whole staff team had the chance to get outside and run Winter activities for 190 students and teachers from a nearby school in Spiez. We had 14 outdoor activities during the day including ice climbing, cross country skiing and sledding. And when we waved the train away we had the rest of the day off to relax.
We are currently in the middle of our busiest ski weeks here at KISC with nearly 100 people doing guided skiing in three different resorts. Our Staff team has risen from 27 to 55 people with Helpers arriving from all over the world. We even had more snow arriving over the past few days to make Kandersteg look even prettier. The Staff team is buzzing at the moment with all the new and old friendships. You can see people laughing and joking as Ex-Staff join together and share stories with current Staff.
Unfortunately I only have another few weeks left living the dream here in Kandersteg before I start a new adventure. But I will be back again someday…smiling…and telling the future Staff Team the amazing things I have done during these past 19 months.
