Like Learning to Ride A Bike30.08.2015
For the past 5 years I've lived in a busy town by the seaside; but three months ago I moved to the beautiful Swiss village of Kandersteg and have been smiling ever since. I’m lucky enough to call this amazing place home. There are many reasons to smile at KISC. Firstly my two brilliant roommates who brighten up every day and make early mornings much better. Secondly, the staff here, they are some of the most caring, friendly, inspirational and enthusiastic people you’ll ever meet. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what your hobbies are or anything else, at KISC you’ll be welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home within hours. Here you can live the Scouting dream and make international friendships that will last a lifetime.
Since being at KISC I’ve achieved more than I ever thought possible; I’ve challenged my fear of heights, climbed mountains, made friends from all around the globe, explored the breathtaking surroundings and am very slowly learning how to ride a bike… Living at KISC has made me realise that there’s no set age at which things should be achieved and no specific set of goals that should be met. Everyone is different and that’s what makes the world such a wonderful place. Life is about having fun and grabbing chances with both hands. On that note I leave you with a quote from the wonderful actress who brought us Mary Poppins...
"Sometimes opportunities float right past your nose. Work hard, apply yourself, and be ready. When an opportunity comes you can grab it." - Julie Andrews
