What is happening this week at the Kander-Lodge?
The tilers and plasterers are busy and slowly but steadily more bathrooms are tiled and nearly all the walls on the 1st floor have been prepared for the finishing. On Wednesday all the ceilings will be "sprayed". On the Ground Floor the entrance area is nearly ready for the the plasterers. The ceilings are in, after the last pipes for the fire alarm system have been put in, and most of the walls are now covered in plasterboard.
The roof company has started today to finish the flat roof which hopefully means that next week, with the help of the Work Parties, the garden slabs and the fence can be brought up and finished. Inside the flat roof building nearly all the holes for the new windows and emergency exit doors have being made as well as the walls being covered in fermacell. The additional windows and doors will not be ordered until June but with the holes ready we can start painting the outside of that part of the building.
Chris Barton's mother, Elizabeth, is now finishing the 74 curtains for the Kander-Lodge. As the ceilings are now in, the exact measure for all the curtains are now set. She is doing a fabulous job!!
Mike, Grounds Assistant, has started with planting young shrubs on the banks of the new cross country tracks as well as preparing the additional fences that need to go up around the Kander-Lodge.
Last but not least the Sprinkler company has installed the pumps, valves and other appendices in the basement, if it all works we now in a month time!
The progress in exiting and sadly enough can not be captured entirely in this Blog! If you are a member, or if you helped buidling the Kander-Lodge, please join us for the Opening on Saturday 30th May at 16.00 and if you want to stay overnight you need to bring a tent with you.
