This week is considerable shorter due to Easter but still a bit of work is being done.
The plaster company has started spraying all the ceilings with the finish 'plaster'. Staff is working hard to keep ahead of them while preparing the ceilings with a 'fixer' and covering the windows with plastic. Next week Tuesday the tiling company can start with the tiles in the bathrooms while the plaster company will finish the walls in the rooms.
Paul has been busy with a lot of small job but also with the building the beds. The tradition is that all guest beds are hand made by the staff and we continue this in the Kander-Lodge with 44 fully hand made beds!!
Of course quite a few meetings took place this week including a full Building Committee meeting. It was decided to give the order for the Fire Alarm System to Siemens Switzerland. As the decision was taken a little late we now need to ensure that we have all the additional pipes for this system in place in the entrance hall before the last bids of the ceiling are closed there. Another meeting was about the emergency exit bridge on the end of the building and how to construct it. The bridge will also serve as the entrance to the staff area of the Kander-Lodge.
Now the snow is finally melting we have been thinking about the landscaping around the Kander-Lodge and especially the road to the entrance of the KL. It seems that a proper tarmac car park and road to the entrance is only slightly outside our present budget (if someone has a spare SFr. 50'000.- please do not hesitate to contact me!!!). We therefore will work on the option to prepare the area for future tarmacing (is that an English word??) which means that we will see if we can put a 20cm grit layer on the whole area including cables for 2 car park floodlights and the water and drain installation for the 'Snowstar' fountain. On the edge of the car park with the cross country tracks, we look at planting a few Ahorn (Acer) trees which love the climate here at KISC (or so they told me).
Last but not least the orders for the staff area kitchen and for the furniture were given to IKEA and it will all (let's keep our fingers crossed) arrive at the Kander-Lodge in week 20.
Till next week!
