Jens was back again...05.08.2015
The past week has been a busy one, in fact our busiest of the year! Over 1,500 guests were at KISC to enjoy the permanent mini-jamboree as well as adventures in the mountains and discovering Switzerland. It takes a great Staff team to make sure all are looked after and everything is going smoothly. Hike guides and shop Staff, pinkies working in catering and on the campsite all do their bit to make everything happen.
There is also a group of Staff behind the scenes making sure all goes smoothly, and also have an eye on the weeks, months and even years ahead. Sometimes they are not as visible but are working hard in the admin office on future Staff applications, financial matters and keeping the buildings and grounds looking as good as possible (everything needs to be Scout proof!).
My last week at the centre before I said goodbye again (for the moment) was filled with many random tasks to help when times were busiest. Trips to the doctor, finding cash differences and washing the chalet steps were a few of the things that hopefully helped in a small way to make it a succesful week. August 1st (Scouting’s birthday along with Swiss National Day) unfortunately brought with it one of the very few days so far this summer of bad weather but Staff and guests all had a smile on their faces all day, showing how far a great attitude can go.
Living and working at KISC and in Kandersteg always brings a smile to my face. Over a number of years I have worked at the centre and it is always great to come back to give a hand and wear a pink t-shirt.
