Cooking Up Smiles14.05.2014
Hello! My name is Andrew and I come from the fantastic County of Surrey in the United Kingdom! It's the home to Miranda, The Magna Carta and most of all Harry Potter!
I am one of the new Catering Assistants that has the job of fuelling the shorties three times a day to get them ready for the fantastic day ahead.
Now if you are a regular reader or just reading this by chance you probably think we must be CRAZY to smile all time at KISC.. well.. that’s partly true but let me tell you why!
The little town of Kandersteg which is set in the Bernese Oberland has a unique charm that no other town has, that brings thousands of not just scouts but also tourists every year.
Plop a fantastical magical place called the International Scout Centre into the almost middle of the town and Voilà you have one reason to smile!
Now add a dash of fun and kilo of laughter mixed with a whole lot of fellowship.
Sprinkle in the Beautiful sun and a splash of snow with the occasional rain (my favourite) and the smiling never stops!
I have been here for nearly two weeks and I have found many reasons to laugh and of course smile. Be it singing, dancing in the Kitchen and seeing the expressions of peoples faces when they see how bad I can sing and dance... But also seeing scouts from all over the world join in and participate in not just the permanent world scout Jamboree but also fulfilling one man’s dream to create a better world.
Lastly, I have a quote which may be popular but I feel like it describes my time and I'm sure every pinky and guest, past and present.
“Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” Dr. Seuss
