Things are much quieter in the Centre these days as we settle into an autumn routine. Our Staff are still being kept busy, however, with work progressing rapidly on the Arabian Suite renovation. The new floors and internal walls are in place and the final insulation is being put in. Soon we will finish the external walls and close the rooms off from the increasing cold outside. We are also doing as much work as we can on our grounds before the temperatures plummet and it is covered in frost or snow. The rest of the Pinkies are deep cleaning, working on KanderActive 2011 and taking care of our autumn guests.
Our only guests this week are from the Aladdin Stiftung, who we are happy to welcome again for their annual autumn camp. Aladdin Stiftung are a foundation that supports families with children with special needs. They will stay for two weeks and during this time many families will have the opportunity to have a family holiday surrounded by a support structure. While here they will do many activities, including day trips and crafts. This year they are staying in the Kander-Lodge and making use of all the facilities there.
Starting next week we have the first of our Autumn Work Parties: the Spanish Work Party. The following week we will have the Dutch Work Party and both groups will mainly work outdoors. If you want to learn more about our Work Parties and how to get involved, see our Work Parties page.
In between all this working, many of our Long Term Staff are taking well-earned holidays after the summer. Those left behind are enjoying autumn adventures such as canyoning, hiking and ice skating.
Check back soon to see what our Work Parties have been up to and don’t forget to come and visit us!
