Another busy week!09.05.2013
Another busy week has passed at KISC while the Centre is being prepared for summer, despite of the ever-changing weather conditions. Spring is indeed a time of preparation and work and this week has been the week of not only one, but two Work-Parties! After four days of hard work clearing out the Campsite, the Spanish Work-Party got to relax and spend the last couple of days visiting the area. But the White Kitchen didn't stay empty for long. In fact the Dutch Work-Party arrived even before the Spanish party had left, and after a day of hiking the chain saws were roaring already Monday morning.
This week brought more than just Work-Parties though. On Monday four members of our Pinkie staff team participated in a conference of United Nations Global Road Safety Week in Geneva named "Scouting for Global Road Safety" with scouts from Greece, Ireland and Switzerland to join more nationalities of our Pinkies from Australia, Bulgaria and Costa Rica. They didn't just learn about pedestrians and the 1968 Convention on Road Traffic for youth and young adults, but also talked about the road safety issues in their own countries and presented some ideas for actions plans and implementation on scouts groups back at home.
Last but not least summer is coming which also means that the Staff team is growing, and this week we welcomed Penny (ZA) as House Assistant, Paul (UK) as International Friendship Assistant and Peter (UK) as Eco Assitant.
