Meals & Self-catering

Ready, Steady, Cook

Eat with us

The Centre has a dining hall that can seat up to 100 people in one sitting and a kitchen equipped to cook for a maximum of 300 guests per meal. All groups staying with us can choose some or all of their meals to be catered by the Centre.

Meals are served in the Chalet dining hall, and you can eat with us regardless of your accommodation type. The meals are 'canteen' style, with a set main dish and a starter or a dessert.

From September to June, breakfast is served from 07:30 to 9:00, except Sundays, when it's from 08:30 to 09:30. In July and August, breakfast is open from 07:00 to 09:00.

Lunch is served at 12:00 and dinner at 18:00, and we ask all of our guests to be on time for the meals they booked. During busy summer weeks, in July and August, a seating time might be assigned to your group, for which you are expected to arrive on time.

Please be aware that once the mealtime has passed, the Dining Hall will be closed, and if you arrive after this time, no further service will be available. As described in the booking conditions, non-attendance of meals will result in the meal being charged in full on your bill.

We operate on a 'first come, first served' basis, so please request your catering as soon as possible after paying the prepayment to avoid disappointment. Meal bookings often fill up months in advance. Groups of 10+ need to book meals at least 7 days in advance. Smaller groups can make an enquiry up to 48 hours before arrival but meals are not guaranteed at such short notice.

Cancellations of meals must be made 24 hours in advance.

The price list of our meals is stated further below, with an adult being from 17+ years old, a child from 6 to 16 and an infant from 0 to 5 years old.

Special diets & allergies

Our kitchen facilities are operated by volunteer staff, and we do our best to cater for guests with dietary requirements. If you have a severe allergy, we recommend cooking for yourself.

We can cater for the most common dietary requirements, such as Vegetarians, Vegans, Gluten, Lactose, Dairy and Nut-free diets. Guests with other special diets can specify their requirements when booking meals. Unfortunately, we are not able to cater Halal meals, but we can offer no pork or vegetarian meals.
While we do our best to cater for the different requirements, we prepare all the meals in the same kitchen, so we can not guarantee that the meals are 100% allergen-free. If you have a severe allergy, we recommend cooking for yourself. All food allergies need to be booked at least 7 days in advance.

Meals at KISC Huts

Heading up to the Alps to spend a night in one of our KISC mountain huts, Ueschinen Hut or Gfellalp Hut? Once you have booked your programme, it is up to you to make sure the meals you book fit with your activities.

You are free to take your own food and ingredients and use the fully equipped kitchens in the huts. Alternatively, you can order a Hut Food Package. The package includes all the ingredients for a hot dinner and breakfast. Fresh ingredients will need to be collected from the Chalet before departing and carried by your group. Please remember you need to cook dinner for the KISC Staff that opens the hut for you. If on a guided activity, this will be your guide for the duration of the activity.
