KISC is a scout centre with high environmental standards. Therefore using only what we need, reusing what we can, recycling as much as possible and generating as little waste as possible is a priority for us. Recycling saves energy and resources, and thereby reduces our environmental impact. We encourage all our guests and staff to take action for a better environment and to recycle as much as possible.
As our scout centre is located in Switzerland—one of the world’s leading countries when it comes to recycling—we recycle according to Swiss standards. We can recycle almost everything we use, which is great. However, this requires a lot of care and a will to get familiar with our recycling system. To find out more about what you can recycle at KISC, see here.
It is the guests’ responsibility to take care of their own rubbish and recycling. Staff are more than happy to give advice and help when you come to recycle during the opening hours of our recycling centre. Sorting your recycling and rubbish will take up a lot of time throughout your stay, but if you plan it in advance it will be much easier, more organised, and a valuable learning experience for both you and us. It could be a good idea to assign one or more persons from your group to be in charge of the group’s recycling during your stay.
Doing recycling and learning about it is a great opportunity for scouts and leaders to become more aware of the environment and how they can protect it with their personal choices and actions. Learning new ways of caring for the environment, which can be put into practice once back at home is an important part of the scouting experience we offer here at KISC. As KISC has a very elaborate recycling system in place, we are able to offer a great setting for learning about recycling. Learning about how we recycle at KISC is also part of our Eco Award.
As scouts we should all do our part in protecting the environment, and recycling is one of many great ways to do so.
HELP A PINKIE
Our campsite staff team makes sure that the facilities and campsites are clean and accommodating. Every day we clean toilets, sort out rubbish and recycling and make sure groups are enjoying their stay with us. As volunteers and scouts, we are more than happy if you and your scout group would like to give us a hand. You can come up with your own ideas of how you would like to help, or you can join our staff team in cleaning and tidying up our campsite. Please talk to campsite staff if you are interested in this opportunity.
