Top Tips for KISC
My name's Harry and I am from the UK. I live in a little town called Torpoint which is situated in Cornwall - a county known for pirates, pastys and people with funny accents.
Since I have been here as a Pinkie, my friends and family at home have been asking me questions such as 'What's it like to be a Pinkie' and 'Are you having fun?' I always find these quetions really difficult to answer because there is so much I want to say! So I have decided to come up with a personal top 3 things about life at KISC!
1) The Staff!! I love working and living with all the other Pinkies; they are all so kind and friendly and we always have a great time together, whether it's on a Staff Night Out, watching a movie with Amy (KR) in the Staff Room or stealing someone's scarf and sending them on a hunt around the Chalet... thanks Penny (ZA) and Saki (HK)!
2) The surroundings! Living in the heart of the Swiss Alps is peaceful, fun and beautiful! It's awesome that on a day off or even during a lunch break I can go for a hike with Ben (US), a bike ride with Javi (ES) or just a ride on a cable car with Andry (MG)! I cannot wait until it snows again because Kandersteg and the surrounding mountains look spectacular covered in snow...and because I need to have a re-match in a snow ball fight with Miranda (SE) after I was thrashed last time round!26.10.2012
3) International atmosphere! Since arriving here in September, I have met many people from all around the world from different backgrounds and cultures. Within the Staff alone there 15 different nationalities and recently I have been able to get to know people from the Portugese, Spanish and Dutch Work Parties (thanks for saving us from lots of deep cleaning by the way!)
Finally, talking about international spirit, the Academy has arrived and now the Centre is buzzing with Scout leaders from more that 40 different countries, althought we are very busy now, I am really looking forward to the next few days!!
All that's left for me to say is a huge thank you to my family and friends for supporting me back at home and the amazing Staff team, especially my fellow Shorties- who are making my time here an unforgettable experience!
Thanks for reading, yours in Scouting,
