How do I become a Pinkie?
The basic requirements for being a member of the Short Term Staff team are very simple:
- To be a Scout or Guide member of a National Scout or GuideOrganisation recognised by WOSM or WAGGGS.
- To be at least 18 years old on the day you arrive here.
- To be able to communicate in English.
Please be aware that we will need to secure permission to work in Switzerland with the relevant authorities. For citizens from EU/EFTA countries this may be easier than for others. Any appointment made will depend upon receiving this necessary permission.
Short Term Staff receive full training at the beginning of their season. During the season they receive accommodation in the Chalet, food and all the basics needed to stay at the Centre. There is no pocket money but some travel support may be available.
Our Short Term Staff come for one of these seasons and it is very important for them to be with us for the full 3 months. If, for some reason, you cannot be here for the full 3 months, this may affect our decision on whether to offer you a place. However, send us an email and let us know what you can do and when you can be here, and we will see what is possible.

Confirmation from NSO
We need a written confirmation by the International Commissioner of your National Scout/Guide Organisation or Association, stating you are a registered member. This should be a scanned letter. Please get in touch with you National Headquarters if you need support with this.
Write a one page letter to introduce yourself. This letter should include who you are, your interests, what skills and experiences you have that will help you work at KISC, why you are applying for STS and what you expect from your experience in Kandersteg.
Please take this form to your doctor, so they can sign and state that you are physically and mentally healthy to work and live at KISC.
