dylan (AU) - guest services director
G’day, I’m Dylan! I’m the Guest Services Director here at KISC and I come from the magical land of Australia. It’s just like Austria, except with more letters. And kangaroos. And beaches. And more Sydney Opera Houses. Actually, it’s very different to Austria. If you’re interested in hearing more about the differences between Australia and Austria, you might find me around the office, or hopefully out and about making new friends and exploring the beautiful scenery around Kandersteg. See ya soon!
Andreea (RO) - Catering assistant
Bună! I'm Andreea, the pink fluffy unicorns lover! This autumn I left my cozy home in Transylvania, Romania, and came to KISC to live one of the greatest adventures of my life as a Short Term Staff. Now I’m here for three more months as Catering Assistant. My favourite things here at KISC are pink, hiking, evening walks in the beautiful village of Kandersteg, get lost in the forest near the center, the dishwasher and hide from Olave (that I am really scared of). If you are visiting KISC and you hear “Unicorns I love them” more than 5 times in a row, that’s me!
anna (FI) - staff development director
Moromoi, I’m Anna from Finland! When I’m not busy eating yummy food or drinking coffee, I enjoy working and spending time with my beautiful fellow Pinkies. I was a short term staff in 2008, after which I have worked in Catering, Programme and Campsite. Now I’m here to take care of the most valuable thing at KISC: the staff! On my days off I like to enjoy the mountains around me and practice my high altitude napping skills.
Erling (NO) - Internal Services Director
Hello there! I am Erling from Norway, and I am the Internal Services Director here at KISC. You could basically find me everywhere looking after the infrastructure, outdoor property and other internal services here. In my time off I like to be out doing fun things like hiking or skiing in these beautiful surroundings of Kandersteg.
ARINYa (CH) - WINTER 2017
Hoi zeme! My name is Arinya and I'm from Switzerland. During this winter season, I'm staying in the undoubtedly most beautiful part of the country, wearing pink jumpers and ski boots. You'll find me anywhere near the kitchen or out in the snow. I'm always in for a cup of tea, a smile and some chocolate, and believe it or not, those things get even better when shared! I do my best to spend a lot of my free time outside of my comfort zone or zoned into books, learning new exciting stuff about the world, myself and other people. Hope to see you soon at KISC!
Oscar (SE) - programme director
HellO! My name is Oscar, and I´m your normal non-friendly, boring, depressive swedish person. When I´m not busy doing unfun and non impressive stuff, I usually spend my time in the mountains doing either hiking, climbing or skiing. I also very much enjoy boardgames of different kinds, and tee, lots and lots of tee. Also, I´m normally quite fun-friendly.
JOANA (DE) - WINTER 2017
Hallo! I’m Joana and my passion for scouting, travelling and nature brought me to this wonderful place. I’m from the lovely south of Germany which is the place where “Spätzle mit Soß”, good beer and the “Kehrwoche” comes from. Just ask me if you want to know more about these swabian things. If you can’t find me in the Center you better check the mountains. Most likely I’m up there shredding the dream because you can’t buy happiness but you can buy a lift pass ;) I’m happy to meet you at KISC! Gut Pfad!
LARS (NO) – Winter 2017
Hei! I'm Lars from the adventurous country Norway! I love every aspect off winter and am here at KISC to spread this cold love to everyone. Skiing, snowshoeing, skating, sledding, digging snow caves and all the other wonders you can do during wintertime is my specialty! If you have any questions about winter you can always ask me! And don't forget that some hot chocolate always tastes better when it is a snowstorm outside. Looking forward to see you here at KISC! Or "Prekæs" as I would said in Norwegian.
EMIL (DK) – Programme development assistant
Halløj! My name is Emil. I was STS in Summer 2016, and worked as a hike guide. You might ask how a guy from the (probably) flattest country on the earth manages that, well here at KISC everything is possible! Among the best things I know are skiing, sailing, drinking water and #hashtagsthataresolongthattheyarehardtoread. My bucket list: play Icehockey and shower in a water fal.
Katie (UK) - Winter 2017
Hey, I'm Katie and I'm a guide from the UK. I'm 18 years old and always the youngest out of my friends, so it's no different here :) I have been coming to Kandersteg almost every year since I was a baby, yet it's always just as beautiful every time. I feel very happy and privileged to have the chance to spend time here at KISC in my favourite and most beautiful place on earth. I love to spend my free time skiing at every opportunity I get and spending time with some amazingly incredible people!
MORGAN (CA) - WINTER 2017
Hi, I'm Morgan from Canada! I am so excited to be a short term staff here at KISC. In my free time I like skating, skiing, winter camping, maple syrup, and poutine (so your average Canadian). If you ever want to talk about Canada with me, just look for the person wearing a tuque and flannel (when I'm not in pink).
ANDREW (UK) - ASSISTANT PROGRAMme DIRECTOR
Ey up ma duck, I’m Andrew from England. You’ll normally find me either attempting to run/ski up and down mountains, or perhaps pretending to myself that everyone loves my singing voice and that I belong on Broadway. I’m also very useful to keep around if you ever need something off of a high shelf.
RUBEN (PT) – WINTER 2017
Boa noite! I'm Rúben, the newest portuguese guy in town. I was almost born near Kandersteg, I think that's why I feel so close with mountains and quiet forests. When I'm not helping manteining BPs dream I'm wandering over here and there, listening to strange music and doing some meditations (napping). I love folk tales, folk dances, music, passionate dialogues about the meaning of life, mead, japanese animation and more strange things. If you are interested in these things come talk to me, if you are not, try to convice me to visit your country, I'll love it!
Ginger (CH) - The lone ranger
Meow! I am Ginger (CH) and here at the Centre I have many positions. I am the Campsite Cat during the Summer and right now you can find me in the warm shelters of Hotel Crystal, or Chalet Over There, turning our Danish male Staff into softies! You may think I have gained some weight over Winter, but I assure you this is just my Winter coat. I still remain active doing some snow hunting every day. Unlike those lazy Centre cats...
FELIPE (BR) - DIRECTOR
Olá, My name is Felipe (aka FlipFlop) and I am the Director here at the World Scout Centre. I love this village and the mountains that surround it. KISC gives me the opportunity to meet Scouts from all over the world, and everyday I learn something new. On my days off you will find me skiing, climbing, mountain biking, slacklining or practicing some capoeira moves. Back in Brazil I was a leader at 1o Grupo Escoteiro São Paulo.
Linnea (SE) - Social media and communications assistant
Hejsan! My name is Linnea and I come from the lovely south of Sweden. I was a STS in Autumn 2016 and then I came back to KISC almost immediately, as our very first Social Media & Communications assistant (longest title of the Centre). That means I am the mastermind behind KISC's posts on Social Media, best job ever! When I'm not thinking about cats, eating vegan candy or singing loudly, I enjoy writing, asking normal to weird questions, watching Vikings and finding out stuff with the help of Google and Wikipedia. And yeah, I am the broccoli queen – I love them little trees!
James (CH) - office manager
Sälüü, this is James from Switzerland. As one of the few Swiss guys I have to ensure our bookkeeping and HR goes well so we make sure that people get to live the dream. In my free time I love travelling through Switzerland and the World to meet friends and also to make new ones.
Ana (ES) - house MANAGER
Hola! My name is Ana and I come from the beautiful and big Barcelona in Spain! I was a Short Term Staff in Summer 2016 (which was pretty amazing) and now I am the House Manager! In my daily tasks you can see me looking after the buildings, the dancing parties down in laundry, all of our pink T-shirts, the food for the lovely cats or the best playlist in the world to have an amazing day at work! Haus is fun, Haus is love!
JOSH (NZ) – Reception manager
Hi my name is Josh and I come from the Land of the Long White Cloud, Middle Earth or more commonly known as New Zealand. I have just arrived as the new Reception Manager and this season is a little different to what I’m used to at this time of year. I have swapped my jandal’s and shorts for ski pants and snow boots. When not helping guests I will be out in the snow sledding or eating fondue or Schnitzels at the Crystal. Looking forward to a possible white Christmas. Likes: Loud music and photography.
SATCHEL (US) - WINTER 2017
AHEY my name is Satchel and I'm from the United States of America. I discovered Kandersteg and international scouting when a scout friend of mine worked as a winter shortie in 2012. In the summer of 2014 I stayed at KISC for two weeks. During those two weeks I discovered how amazing scouting is in the rest of the world and I wish to spread that by being a pinkie and contributing to other people's scouting experiences in a positive way.
Aoibhinn (IE) - WINTER 2017
Dia Dhaoibh my name is Aoibhinn (call me Avery) and I'm from a wee country called Ireland. When I'm not doing all things scouty I love dancing, singing and playing the ukulele very badly. I have a very strange laugh so should you ever visit KISC and hear the faint noise of a walrus or a dying donkey, don't worry, it's just me.... laughing. Should you ever need any advice on potatoes I'm your gal.
Delshard (AU) - Winter 2017
Hihi, I'm Delshard and I come from the land of droughts and flooding rains - Australia! When I'm not doing silly stuff (like asking if Doris is married to Paul, or misquoting Spock) I enjoy music, hiking, exploring new places, blogging....and maybe ice skating properly, some day. Kandersteg is a magical place to be, and I'm excited to be here for Winter 2017!
PEPe (ES) - grounds manager
Hola! My name is Pepe and I come from the always sunny Murcia, in the south-east corner of Spain. I’m having and amazing time here in the most beautiful place in the Swiss Alps. If I’m not busy trying this place not to get buried under the snow, you’ll probably find me pursuing Massi, the director’s dog, trying to cuddle her. Approach me carefully or I willl end showing you some spanish words, spanish songs or even spanish food!
markus (DK) - catering assistant
Hej og goddag from the beautiful settings of KISC! My name is Markus and I'm from the flat country of the north called Denmark. Denmark is known for HC. Andersen, Danish design and people who speak with potatoes in their throats. But not only do I have a potato in my throat, I also have potatoes in my stomach, which is because potatoes definitely are my favorite kind of food. One of my passions in life is to hike. I have hiked a lot around the world, and one of the most beautiful places I've ever hiked is near Kandersteg. I also love the sounds machines makes, to draw and a good cup of coffee. If you want a fun conversation just let me know!
Olave (CH) - Secret Centre Overlord
Hi fans, it's me Olave, Secret Centre Overlord of KISC and cutest cat around, loved by few, adored by many. Yet again, I hacked myself into the KISC computer systems to create my own entry on their website. This all as part of honing my cyber warfare skills to take my world domination plans to the 21st century! Puny humans! I also use this opportunity to revoke all previous current Staff descriptions about me: I suspect the PR & Marketing Assistant to have hi-jacked my account to write in my name. So just for the record, I haven't turned to poetry and my lust for power is as unsatisfied as ever. The past few months, while the Centre humans were busy cleaning up after Summer, I built a submarine fleet in Oeschinensee, ready to strike at any time and occupy all positions at KISC with fellow felines (excluding Ginger!). As a first symbol of my wrath I destroyed the cardboard tank, the silly Reception Manager built for me over last Summer, and started retreating to my underground base beneath the coke machine again. But I need to move quickly now, I fear that the canine from Hotel Crystal, "Codename: Bari" is onto my plans and previous efforts to silence him haven't worked. So long, humans!
Hannah (UK) - House assistant
Hiya, I'm Hannah and I come from the lively city of Liverpool where we are known for our unique accent. I am the shiny new House Assistant and I am super excited for a year of KISC adventures! Being British I like to drink a lot of tea and moan about the weather... I love a good singalong, especially Disney, and I will proceed to sing along loudly even though I'm completely tone deaf! When I`m on my day off you can probably find me napping, or exploring the cool places that Switzerland has to offer!
katarina (sk) - pr & marketing manager
Ahoj! My heart beats in the middle of Europe- in Slovakia. I'm a Minion lover, who likes the smell of sleeping bag and nature after rain, quitar sessions around campfire with people who can't actually sing, parking tractor with the trailer, wet and wild dancing, the sound of bicycle wheels, photoshophing, posting statuses and PRomoting the most beautiful place on the earth .... and opening presents!
Monika (LT) - Administration and Finance manager
Labas! I am Monika from a small country in the middle of Europe (at least we claim that) – Lithuania. At the moment I spend my best days here, at KISC! Usually you can find me in the admin office between the mountains of folders and piles of papers. All the other time I will be walking outside and enjoying Alps, reading a book in a cozy spot or learning how to sky (mission (im)possible).
FI (UK) - Programme admin manager
Hello I’m Fi from the Highlands of Scotland! I do all things admin-y for the programme department favourite tasks include phoning ‘Scout Support’ at Outdoor Interlaken and paying bills... especially as I can impersonate LunchMoney Lewis singing ‘I got bills’. I love being outdoors and in the mountains doing all that fun outdoorsy stuff including; hiking, climbing, biking and snowboarding.
MAXIMA (PT) - Captain's guard dog
Maxima is one of the newest animal additions to the Centre. In to take the spotlight away from the cats, Maxima can usally be found under one of the desks in the Administration Office. She loves a good chat, however she only speaks Portuguese, so start brushing up if you want a new canine friend!
lisa (SE) - Reception assistant
Hej, Hejsan and Hallojsan! I’m Lisa from the happy, singing Sweden. If I’m not sitting on my chair in the front office or talking to guest at the counter, I’m probably out somewhere on the campsite preparing for an amazing campfire or preparing other exciting activities. When I’m not sitting on my chair, at the counter or out on the campsite I’m probably off. When I’m off you will probably find me crusing down a slope, hiking around in the mountains or planning exciting adventures. Hope to see you here at KISC!
Von Bon (CH) - Feline queen
Halloo, I am the new kitten in the Centre, I love attention, but to those who deny it to me, I will demand it from them. I am well aware of my irresistable charm and my beauty that makes me easy on everyone's eyes. I enjoy my meowing to everyone, so do not take it personal, it is either me trying to bond with a human, or my litter bin is full or in worst cases, I am starving! So far I have somehow stolen everyone’s attention from the Feline Overlord, Olave and directing it to myself and I think I might even start a page on Facebook.
sophie (UK) - Catering manager
Hey! I’m Sophie and I come from the big smoke known as London in the UK. I was a shortie in Winter 2016 and couldnt get enough of the beauty that is KISC, so now I’m back as a Catering Manager. I love cooking up new and exciting dishes for hungry staff and guests. When I’m not cooking up a storm in the kitchen you might find me hiking or attempting some climbing in these awsome Alps that are our backgarden!
Daniel (ES) - Admin and Finance assistant
¡Saludos! My name is Daniel, and I come from Madrid, the capital of Spain! If I’m not behind my camera taking pictures of everything, I’ll probably be exploring the mountains or skiing. I'm the Admin and finance assistant, so if you come by the office, I'll probably be the one that is surrounded by papers and bills.
