Alexandros (GR) - reception Manager
Gia Hara! I am Alexandros from Greece and I am back working at the Centre after 10 years since my Short Term Staff season as the Reception Manager! It is quite exciting to be back and see that although much of the structure has changed since I left the Centre in 2000 the Dream of Kandersteg is continuing to be alive! You should come and live the Dream too!!
caz (ie) - assistant to the director
I am the Director's personal assistant 1.5 days a week. I generally spend that time reminding him of all the things he has forgotten, walking around the Centre trying to look important and dodging the other SMT in case they want to give me any more work. I also like to hang out in the mountains from time to time.
christian (de) - winter 2011
Moin moin! The magic of Kandersteg dragged me from the flat lands of northern Germany to the Swiss alps. Skiing, snow shoe hiking, curling or anything else - just ask me and I will join the fun!
conny (nl) - marketing manager
I'm Conny from the Netherlands. Together with Lou I am responsible for the website, newsletters, brochures, and a lot of other marketing activities. I love the wonderful mixture of living in a small Alpine village and working together with the international staff here at KISC.
darren (au) - winter 2011
Hi all, I am Darren from Australia. I am a little out of my climate here (you know... it's summer back home) but I'm loving every minute of my time at KISC. Usually I would take Scouts sailing, canoeing and kayaking in Australia but here I cannot wait to go skiing and ice skating. My major goal at KISC would certainly be ice skating on a frozen lake (an impossibility back home).
dato (GE) - house assistant
Magesalmebit! I'm Dato from Georgia and here at KISC I'm the House Assistant. I'm also known as the strong, nice and cute ma who is helping Jenneke to captain the House shi. On my days off I like flirting, fishing, travelling and hiking. When at work I love to hear the new gossip from Jenneke! Yey!
eduardo (BR) - caterer
When I'm not battling the Soup Genius in the Kitchen, I like to create my own Brazilian culinary masterpieces... mainly out of fish sauce and condensed milk. When I'm not in the kitchen you will find me styling my facial hair, collecting stamps and restocking my secret leg pouch.
eliane (ch) - catering supervisor
Grüssech, I'm the Swiss Catering Supervisor working part-time at the Centre. In the rest of my time I work as a teacher in the nearby town of Spiez. After all that, when I can find the time, I love to go skiing, climbing and enjoy a nice massage.
harry (uk) - winter 2011
Hi, I am Harry from the UK! I enjoy hiking, skiing, camping and running the local scout troop in Bath (23rd Bath Avonvale). I am looking forward to the next thee months in the snow!

Hey, I'm Helen and I'm from the UK. I enjoy playing in the snow, Xmas and making things colourful. I came to KISC to have lots of new experiences and expand my horizons.
jenneke (nl) - house manager
Tall, Dutch, obsessed by geometrical folding system for beddings and unsure on her current relationship status, Jenneke is our new House Manager. The toilets aren't clean? You can complain to her. There's not toilet paper? You can complain to her. Missing a pillow in your room? You can complain to her. The Xmas decoration at the Centre looks like they have been butchered this year? Oh yeah... you can complain to her. In her free time she enjoys snowboarding, making crocodile shaped labels and giggling at her own jokes - yeah...!
jens (ie) - operational director
My name's Jens and I'm Operational Director. I look after the operations of KISC and in my free time I try and climb, ski, hike and enjoy the nightlife in Kandersteg. I was STS in Summer 2004, Campsite Manager in 2005, 2007 Project Director in 2006/07 and Internal Services Director in 2008/09/10. I come from Dublin in Ireland were I am part of the 47th Dublin (Ballybrack) Scout group.
johan (se) - winter 2011
Yo! I'm Johan the Swede. You may all know my home country beacuse of ABBA, IKEA and Pippi Longstocking or even for things like meatballs and wooden horses - all outdated things if you ask me. A lumberjack flanel shirt, tight jeans, face cream and a good book are the essentials for a modern Swedish boy nowadays. I prefer water-skiing over snow skiing but I'll make an exception this season!
lara (us) - international friendship assistant
Howdy Ya’ll! My name is Lara and I am the new International Friendship Assistant here at Kandersteg! Since I’m from Texas, I’m fascinated with all the snow that has fallen here. But, let me warn you, snow is colder and wetter than in the movies. And snow can be slippery, as I keep finding out. Right now, I am trying to teach the other Staff members about Texas culture, so hopefully by the end of the season, you will hear other Pinkies using the phrase “Howdy Ya’ll” and watching College Football (American) with me. A girl can dream right?
lene (dk) - bookkeeper
I am Lene from Denmark. I am responsible for the bookkeeping at the Centre. I live in Brig-Glis with my two boys and I only come to Kandersteg once a week. I find it very interesting working together with a international staff team. When I am not in Kandersteg I am working for a Ski Company, playing with my kids, doing sports or travelling around the world.

Hey I'm Lisa from Germany. I enjoy climbing and eating lots of chocolate. I love snowboarding, listening to music, reading books and the big green pencil. I am here to improve my English and lots meet people from different cultures!
lou (it) - pr & marketing assistant
She enjoys sitting behind the computer Photoshop-ing for hours on end with what has been called a really grumpy face - no guys, I'm just focusing! Do you all smile and giggle when focusing on work? Ha-Ah?! She also writes long emails with plenty of new words to be intoduced into the English language... mainly Englishised Italianish ones. When not busy with work Luisa likes watching movies, reading, napping and dreaming of a gingerbread village with lots of houses, trees, men, women and a small church... also with chickens, pigs and zebras - all made out of gingerbread!

Ahoj! I am Magdaléna from Prague, Czech Republic. Being the Guest Services Director, I work to ensure that all the guests enjoy their stay and have wonderful time at KISC. In my free time I love to go skiing and cross-country skiing, hiking, watching movies, reading books or having a nice cup of tea.

I'm quite a quit person but I love having fun and enjoying myself in what ever I do and I love smiling! It just makes life a little bit more bearable. I'm a keen sportsman and love swimming, squash, sailing, rock climbing, hiking and just generally being outdoors. This season I'm looking forward to learning to ski. I reacon i'll be a pretty awesome skier!
matt (uk) - assistant programme director
Hello, my name is History Boy! Why, mainly because I like history, but also because... well I don't know really, that's in the past anyway. I like pretending to ski, putting people into large fabric bags, practicing my Scottish accent and sharpening the pencils in Reception. I'm starting to work on my beanie collection so I can restore the Programme Department to its former glory! Come and say hi, but only if you're from Scotland!.. or Italy.... maybe.
michael (de) - maintenance assistant
You can spot him around the Chalet fixing something, organizing the recycling or replacing light bulbs most of the time. In his free time he loves having sandwich parties, watching Legally Blond and trimming his mohawk.
Chief cat and head of the Alien Welcoming Committee, she owns a two bedroom chalet close to the Centre. In her free time she enjoys sleeping in all areas where she shouldn't and looking scared at the sight of anything. She also has lasers that shoot from her robot eyes. Be careful.
riikka (fi) - programme admin. assistant
Hei, I’m Riikka from Finland. I like eating lactose free yogurt, knitting and baking some finnish bread whenever possible. On my days off I like to escape to discover the mountains, that’s always good fun!
robert (de) - catering assistant
My middle name is 'The Soup Genius', so Robert The Soup Genius Schön - servus! I come from Bavaria but no, I do not wear lederhosen neither brezeln as bracelets. I like heavy metal music, sauerkraut and all Ginger Rogers and Fred Astairs tip-tap movies. When there's a snowball fight going on here at KISC I love to take part using the leftover knüdeln.
sam (uk) - winter 2011
My name is Sam and I'm from the UK. I was a Helper working on the Arabian Suite from 4th October to 10th December. Now I am Short Term Staff for Winter 2011. I enjoy hiking, climbing and socialising with friends. There is more snow here than I have ever seen in the UK so I am hoping to learn to ski.
sara (fi) - winter 2011
Hei, I'm Sara from Oulu, northern Finland. I'm the one who drinks milk with every meal. I love mountains, campfires and star gazing. I hate the feeling when there's snow inside your clothes, but otherwise I do love wintertime and I'm sure it'll be a great winter here at KISC!
susi (ch) - administration assistant
Heiii Schmützli zäme, my name is Schmusi-Susi and I'm from Switzerland, downtown Walenstadt. I work as Administration Assistant at the Centre, but in all honesty I do much more than checking bills and filing papers! In fact I'm also the official KISC gossip go-through girl, part-time radio and hip hop/gangsta music assistant and finally I keep everyone on the phone longer than necessary with my "Tschüss, Ciao, Tschüss, Tschüss, Tschüss, Ciao, Ciao, Tschüss..." As personal contribution to make this world a bit better I eat at least 250g of mayonnaise everyday.
tom (ie) - programme director
Hey, I'm Tom from the west of Ireland and I'm the Programme Director. This means that I work in making sure that we provide the best activities and experiences to our guests; whether that is throwing them into crevasses or exciting games around the Centre. In my free time I like to do things - mainly outdoors and involving mountains!
wasel (ly) - front office assistant
When he was a STS in Summer 2005, Wasel became famous for loosing his bag on the cheesery hike! But also for his dress-up as Heidi for 1st August carnival, which unfortunately didn't win any fashion contest. However, he won the Smile Of The Week contest so often that it was almost renamed after him. Wasel's motto are: “If you can’t be happy, look happy” and “All different, all equal”. You can understand the reason why we have him on the front desk as one of the faces of KISC!
zita (hu) - winter 2011
Hi, I am Zita from Budapest, Hungary. I like travelling, doing lots of sports, skiing, watching movies with funny people and having lots of hot chocolate! Looking forward to a great three months here at KISC!
