Ski Resorts near Kandersteg
Taking the liftKandersteg has 2 local ski areas which are ideal for beginner skiers and familes. These are the Oeschinen and Sunnbuel ski areas.

Kandersteg is also within reach of a number of large and famous ski resorts, making it the ideal base for skiers who want a wide variety of slopes. All are accesible by car or public transport. Recommended resorts are:
LAUCHERNALP

This quiet resort offers some great skiing close to Kandersteg. The pistes are wide and well prepared. About 30 minutes drive from Kandersteg or about an hour by public transport. Interactive ski map available here.ADELBODEN
The famous resort of Adelboden has 55 lifts and over 170 km of pistes. Why not combine this with a visit to 'Our Chalet', a World Girl Guide Centre. Just under one hour by public transport. Located in the Simmental (Simme Valley), Lenk is one of the best ski areas in the Bernese Oberland. Private transport only.SAAS FEE
Offering skiing up to a height of 3,600 metres Saas Fee is located amidst some of the highest mountains in Switzerland. Private transport only.ZERMATT

Made famous in the James Bond film "On her Majesty's Secret Service", Schilthorn offers excellent views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. Accesible by private transport only and takes approximately 45 minutes from Kandersteg.GRINDELWALD
Ski underneath the imposing North Face of the Eiger. Grindelwald offers a huge variety of skiing in 2 different areas. First has 9 lifts, 50 km of pistes and 2,501 metres of downhill to the village. Kleine Scheidegg-Mannlichen has 19 lifts and 110 km of slopes. Just over one hour drive from Kandersteg.GSTAAD
More than 100 kilometres of uninterrupted ski terrain up to 3,000 metres above sea level. Gstaad is just over an hours drive from Kandersteg.ALETSCH
Made up of the ski areas of Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiesch-Eggishorn. These areas are in a UNESCO World Heritage area and offer spectacular views of the Aletsch Glacier. Approximately 1 1/2 hours from Kandersteg by public transport.
