Our most challenging guided hike on offer, reaching a summit of over 3000m! The hike leaves Kandersteg early passing all the way along the gentle Gastern Valley, before rising steeply up past Gfellalp Hut and over the Lötschen Glacier. We reach the Lötschenpasshütte in time for dinner, and well earned sleep. In the morning we will hike and scramble to the top of Hockenhorn, a 3293m peak, and the highest point reached by a KISC guided activity. From here you have a stunning vista far a wide, across the Bernese and Valais Alps and also across the whole Kanderfirn Glacier, the largest in the area and the source of the River Kander, which flows through Kandersteg.
Admire the views over the Alps before descending back to the hut for lunch, then continue your hike to Ferden. A well deserved bus and train ride will take you back to Kandersteg. The height gain is a total of 2,000 metres over the two days: a great introduction to Alpinism!
Half board stay at the Lötschenpass hut is included in the price as well as the transport back from the Lötschental to Kandersteg. Ice axes will be supplied when necessary.
