Dear friends,

What a beautiful, sunny and busy summer at KISC with more than 8’500 guests from 42 different countries! Although the summer season draws to an end and there are fewer and fewer guests, all the Pinkies are still smiling as it would be their first day in Pink - and this, after three months of hard work. Now, it is time for evaluating all the work that was done, slowly preparing for the upcoming autumn season and enjoying the last weeks with a great summer staff team 2016.

We collected some interesting figures that can give you a better picture of how the summer at the Centre looked like. Our Pinkies led 1’133 Scouts through the Swiss Alps, 242 people joined our Snow & Ice activities and crossed the Frunden glacier. Almost 6’000 programme badges were sold to Scouts who completed challenging tasks in order to get these unique awards. The Rodelbahn near Oeschinensee was surely attractive for our guests, as they did more than 9’300 runs. The warmth of our traditional campfire spread to almost 4000 Scouts and we had a record number of Scouts joining our August 1st activities, to be precise 1’382 people. Some days got also really busy and long when there were 2'035 guests at the same time. Now, our Campsite needs to catch a breath after 5'590 campers and get ready for an alpine winter.

This summer was truly amazing, mainly because thousands of happy Scouts visited KISC and over 90 staff members gave their all to keep the Permanent Mini Jamboree alive. Thank you all for your hard work and support.

KISC on tour

Not only does the summer bring thousands of guests to KISC, but it’s also the time for major Scout events and gatherings all around the world. This summer, we brought a taste of the Permanent Mini Jamboree and the Pinkie’s enthusiasm to the Central European Jamboree in Poland and to Roverway in France. All the participants had a chance to learn more about the Centre and to join our activities. It was a pleasure for KISC to be present at these events and we are already looking forward to the next events to where we can bring the KISC spirit!

IRW 2016

Another successful International Rover Week is behind us! 15 Rovers from 6 different countries came together to celebrate Scouting and international friendship. The words of the participants explain better how was the event: “I would recommend the IRW to anyone. It is not only spending time in an absolutely awesome location but also getting to know people and making friends that will hopefully stay forever. It also makes you once again realise what Scouting is all about. A great community, friendship, fun and making the world a little better.”
