Dear Scout Friend,

Summer 2015 has been a sunny and mostly dry one. We enjoyed many sunny and warm days in the end of July, which actually resulted in very dry weather and a ban on fire by the Kanton of Bern. The ban was lifted after 2 days when a couple of storms hit us hard. So we can't really complain about the weather. With a motivated team of volunteers, we have just been though the peak of our season and have many stories to tell.

Bellow you can read about some specific points and check out many pictures on our facebook page. We hope you are having as great a season as we are and wish you a wonderful time.

World Scout Jamboree and the Permanent Mini-Jamboree

In Japan, 33'000 Scouts and Guides are gathered to celebrate Scouting and International Friendship, have lots of fun and create a better world. The Pinkies are also present there, showing how at KISC we do all of these things EVERYDAY, and much more! You can find the Permanent Mini-Jamboree at the WSJ in the Better World Tent running activities based on our themes: International Friendship, High Adventure and Eco Adventure. See more...

International Rover Week 2015

This past week has also seen the start of International Rover Week, a bi-yearly event bringing together Scouts from all around the world for a week of activities, adventure and friendship. Now in its fifth year, we currently have 37 participants from 11 different countries at KISC, making for a mini mini-jamboree of sorts! As we speak they are hiking over the famous Lötschenpass, and they have also enjoyed swimming in Oeschinensee, campfires, and of course our August 1st celebrations. If you are a scout aged 18-30 and think this sounds fun, see on our website here for details on Winter Rover Week, which runs from 27/12/15 to 02/01/16.

See some pictures here.

Scout Discos

Every Summer at KISC Scouts and Guides get to dance the evening away with some nice music and lot's of international friends.

Check out some pics from our discos here...

August 1st

The peak of our season are the festivities of August 1st. Not only the celebration of the founding of Scouting but also the Swiss National Day.

This year we had around 1800 guests and 79 staff from 34 countries. Our day was full of nice scout activities and ended with the traditional Scout Parade to the village of Kandersteg. For nice pictures of the day click here...

Ramadan @ KISC

This Summer two of our Pinkies did their Ramadan rituals and spent 30 days fasting from sunrise to sunset. As a sign of respect and international friendship, many of our Pinkies joined in for the last day of fasting, to put themselves into perspective and feel what Imed from Algeria and Hosam from Egypt had felt for 30 days. By the end of the day we put together a great feast and celebrated their Eid. See pictures here...
