I remember writing a newsletter at the beginning of March whilst it was heavily snowing outside and everything was sleeping under a snowy blanket. Nowadays, there are still a few patches of snow around the Centre but the green colour is winnning the battle against the white!
Spring has arrived and has not only brought warmer temperatures, but also fresh news from KISC! It is already a month since our new Short Term Staff have started their adventures as Pinkies. Along with the STS team, the Senior Management Team is now in full force with everybody on board.
Some of our Pinkies had a chance to visit Rotterdam Scout Centre in the Netherlands this March and join the Goose Camp Staff Seminar. Staff members from different Scout Centre’s all over Europe, from the Goose Network, met together to exchange the practices, ideas and experiences from their own Scout Centre’s and volunteering. It was a great opportunity for our Pinkies to connect with other volunteers and bring ideas for improvements back to KISC.
Looking to upcoming months, we expect a season full of hard work and hopefully great results. On the 12th of April a big project, “Welcome2Kisc”, starts at KISC. The whole grounds area in front of the Chalet will be renovated, with new paving stones, barbeque area, and changes to the main stairs to make the whole entrance to the Chalet more welcoming. The renovations should be completed by the beginning of June, all ready for our guests in Summer. Projects like this and many others will be helped by various work parties coming from Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Slovakia.
Spring 2016 is guaranteed to be busy and varied for everyone at the Centre!

The 12th of April is a memorable day for KISC. 93 years ago the Scouts International Home Association purchased the Chalet to become a home for Scouts from all over the world. Since then B.P.’s dream is alive thanks to thousands of volunteers who contributed their time and dedication to KISC. On this day, we will run several activities on our Social Medias, so please join us! Take a selfie and write a birthday wish for KISC using the hashtag #happybirthdayKISC! Help us celebrate the day when living the dream became a reality!
Supporter's & Ambassador's weekend
From the 15th - 17th of April a special event is taking place at KISC. We are expecting 23 International Scouters, Commissioners and our current Supporters for a weekend full of workshops, planning, sharing ideas and a lots of fun. At the end of the event, hopefully everyone will leave motivated with a better idea on how to help and develop international dimensions of Scouting in their countries!
We wish you all an outstanding Spring!
