Work in progress
As promised a few days ago here comes the update on the Arabian Suite renovation. Our Pinkies lead by Michael (DE) - Maintenance Assistant and with the help of a few helpers completed the floor levelling, built the frame and filled it in with insolation and boards. In the mean time a local carpentry company has been woring on the north side of the Chalet to create new window and door frames. To do so a whole piece of the side facade has been demolished and then rebuilt leaving space for windows and doors. Coming up this week, the new beams will be placed into the room to support the ceiling and then the walls will be created. As always most of the work is being done by Staff, including the freshly graduated Autumn STS, who after completing successfully a week of training are now wearing pink and working everywhere needed around the Centre. Have a look at who's on Staff this season here.
It has been quite a week here at KISC... Staff training, closing down the campsite, cleaning, counting stock takes, closing up all Summer issues and welcoming many guests. Families, individuals, Scouts and Guides, school groups and other groups from India, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Denmark, Spain and Belgium are keeping us busy these days. In particular, among all guests stayed at KISC this past week, we had the a volunteer based association called SwissClassics, which run a outdoor event for 45 participants from five different countries. The event called "From hut to hut" it consisted of 2-4 days of hiking routes of about 100 km, which connect one alpine hut to the other. The aim of the event is to offer the possiblitiy for a personal challenge, experience the outdoors and enjoy the Swiss environment.
Autumn is in the mean time showing more and more its presence, days are shorter, morning and evening are accompained by a pungent cold and all the shades of green are turning olive. It is actually quite beautiful and it suits perfectly the current KISC life, this new season looks already very promising!
