Word Scout Committee at KISC!
It is the very beginning of a new season and, despite the grey sky and the snow melting all around, there is a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in the air here at KISC. Not only have we just started a new Staff season, with training sessions happening all week, and had a few warm, sunny Spring-like days, but we also had a very important Scout event taking place in the Centre!
This weekend KISC welcomed the World Scout Committee who met here for their bi-annual meeting. From Thursday to Sunday, they had a full schedule of meetings and other activities. The meetings involved 40 particpants from 29 different countries, who gathered together to discuss various topics, including the organisation of the next World Scout Conference in Brazil in 2011.
On Friday the meetings focused on the Regional Support Cooperation and Strategy Cooperation Groups. In the evening informal meetings continued and those not involved in them had the chance to join the Pinkies in a special evening activity. Saturday was the first day for the offical WSC meeting, which ran for the entire day and was "interrupted" only by a splendid dinner. The participants made their way to the Tower with a Light Trail through the Campsite and arrived to a roaring fire, a genuine convivial atmosphere and a typical Swiss meat Foundue.
On Sunday, the meeting continued discussing, in more detail, the upcoming World Scout Conference and Youth Forum. Although the last part of this meeting went a little behind schedule, everybody had a good time and demonstrated their appreciation for the work done to support the weekend with a round of applause for the KISC Staff, especially the freshly graduated ones.
In fact, the weekend was also the end of the training week and the official start for the ten Spring 2010 Short Term Staff. It may seem that between all the preparations for the WSC Meeting, the training week took second place, but that was not the case. More than ever everybody in the Staff played their part to make everything happen wonderfully... why? Because we share a passion for what we do. We do Scouting!
