Winter Draws to a Close
Hello and warm greetings from KISC!
February has been a busy month here at the centre! We started the month by hosting the European Scout Region Conference and after that busy weekend we saw a short calm in the centre before the busy period to come.
Kandersteg, never being short of fun and interesting events, this year hosted the Dog Sledding World Champsionships and KISC were fortunate enough to personally host the Russian team. The weekend meant that packs of dogs were running through the village and through our campsite and past the Kanderlodge. This lead to some fantastic sights by the chalet, and once more proved there is never a dull moment in Kandersteg!
It has since been a busy few weeks here at the centre and we are now at the end of Ski Week 9. What this means, for all of those familiar with the centre during Winter, is that we are now through the other side of what were a fantastically busy two weeks. The last two weeks had the Chalet, Kanderlodge and The Tower packed full of guests ready to enjoy everything Kandersteg and the surrounding valleys had to offer. The Pinkies all had a fantastic time, whether they were ski guiding, igloo building, snow shoeing or serving dinner to hungry mouths at the end of a long day. The guests seemed to really enjoy their time here and the atmosphere around the centre has been amazing.
Because of the busy weeks we have just had, the Pinkies have had a lot of assistance from the ‘Greenies’ or Helpers who come through KISC to assist for short, busy periods like that we have just experienced. This usually means some ex-Pinkies get to make a return and meet some faces new and old, and from all of the Pinkies here, we wish to extend the greatest of gratitude to everyone who helped out and made everything such a success.
Finally, we are coming to the end of the Winter season here at KISC, which means our Winter shorties will be on to new horizons as we welcome the staff of Spring 2014 next week. The Winter shorties have made this season one to remember, bringing smiles to all of the guests and the Long Term Staff here at the centre and we wish them the best of luck in all that life has to offer post-KISC and we hope to see you all again soon.
