It's now 18 days from the last news and quite a lot has been going on here at KISC!
In fact within the last week of July and the first week of August KISC has been represented at various events, including the 13th European Guide and Scout Conference in Belgium, the BSA Centennial Jamboree in the USA, the World Moot in Kenya, the Finnish National Jamboree 'Kilke' and the Danish National Jamboree 'See'. A lot of Pinkies and ex-Pinkies have been involved in promoting the Centre and spreading the word about B.-P.-'s dream! At the same time here on site thousands of scouts have been welcomed and provided with activities, meals and all other services to help give them an unforgettable stay.
Recent highlights at KISC have been the International Campfires under the rain - it is great to see how not even bad weather can stop Scouts from singing and sitting around a fire! - a couple of crazy rocking Discos and, of course, Swiss National Day Celebrations.
Maybe you do not know about it, but on August 1st, 2010 Switzerland celebrated its 719th birthday and at this occasion we celebrated along with the rest of Switzerland with a special programme and activities all day long! We took full advantage of the blue sky and warm sunshine with an aerobic 'wake up' session in the morning, an outdoor breakfast with hundreds of people to a KISC Circus, a play about the Swiss hero William Tell, a colourful and animated carnival and a fantastic parade to the village. Among all this we also found place for football and volleyball tournaments, pioneering, swimming, indoor climbing, tours of the local Scout Museum and a tasty BBQ for 1100 people. Let me tell you it was a long day but absolutely worth the effort put in by all The Pinkies! Unfortunately I am not able to describe you the 'awesomeness' of this day minute by minute as it would take too long, so if you want to discover a bit more about KISC's Swiss National Day have a look to our photogallery!
In the coming days we will welcome more groups from Portugal, Finland, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Denmark, USA and UK. In particular the Greater London Middlessex West District coming back to KISC after four years for the traditional camp with over 600 Scouts!
More news will come soon, so stay update!
