Winter 2007
Adam (MT), Winter 2007
Hi, I am Adam from tiny Malta. This is my first time on snow and so far I am enjoying Kandersteg a lot. If you come to visit us here I'll probably be the first person to pick up a snowball to start a snowball fight! Hope to see you here soon!

Andreas (DK), Internal Services Director.
Hi, I'm Andreas from Denmark. As Internal Services Director I look after everything 'behind the scenes' here at the Centre: from maintenance to administration. In my spare time I like to frequent the local village and get out and ski when I can.
Anna (FI), Guest Services Director
I am Anna from Finland and, as a typical Finn in many ways, I like Saunas and cold weather. I also enjoy pretty much anything outdoors; hiking, climbing, skiing, sailing, kayaking... you name it! Most of the time you will see me either behind my desk or running around making sure guests are happy and enjoying their stay. That's my job :)
Brett (AU), Winter 2007
Hi I'm Brett from Melbourne, Australia. I love the snow, the Chalet here and the surrounding countryside. I will pretty much give anything a go, no matter how bad I am at it, as long as I beat the Kiwi I don't care!
Caz (IE), PR & Marketing Assistant
Hey, I'm Caz. I was Short Term Staff in Summer 2005, Hut Warden in Summer 2006 and now I look after all things to do with PR and Marketing here at the Centre. I'm a typical blonde from Dublin and love all things to do with the outdoors... whether it's climbing, hiking or skiing- I'll give it a go! Usually I hurt myself but I still have fun! :)

Chris (GB), Maintenance Assistant
Hi my name is Chris. I'm 21 years old and from England. I help out with maintenance here and look after everything inside and outside of the Chalet. I do everything from fixing locks to renovating rooms.

Conny (NL), PR & Marketing Manager
I'm Conny from the Netherlands. Together with Caz I am responsible for the website, newsletters, brochures, and a lot of other marketing activities. I love the wonderful mixture of living in a small Alpine village and working together with an international staff here at KISC.

Dan (NZ), Programme Administration Asst.
I'm responsible for the administration and guest correspondence for the Programme department. I am mad keen on the outdoors, especially winter sports, so I spend as much time as possible skiing or snowboarding as well as climbing. I also take a great interest in the world of rugby and am looking forward to watching ‘The All blacks' win the rugby world cup 2007. In the real world I am a qualified craft baker.

Eliane (CH), Catering Supervisor
Grüssech, I'm the Swiss Catering Supervisor working part-time at the centre. In the rest of my time I work as a teacher and local politician in the nearby town of Spiez. After all that, when I can find the time, I love to go skiing, climbing and maybe some ice climbing.

James (GB), Winter 2007
I have a few strange views on life: I take great pride in being different. I believe everyone is unique and should take pride in what makes them special. "If your not living life on the edge your taking up too much space" Anything that you can do on skis will look better done backwards. I will happily teach anyone who's daft enough to ski switch.
Jens (IE), 2007 Project Director
I am Jens and I'm the 2007 Project Director. In between planning all sorts of exciting things to celebrate Scouting's Centenary, I try and climb, ski, hike and enjoy the nightlife in Kandersteg. I was STS in Summer 2004 and Campsite Manager in 2005. I come from Dublin in Ireland were I am part of the 47th Dublin (Ballybrack) Scout group.
Jon (DK), Winter 2007
Hi, I am Jon from Copenhagen, Denmark. I am one of the many Scandinavians who are at Kandersteg at the moment, and also I like the snow and the mountains very much! I'm sure it's gonna be a great winter and I am looking forward to see you at Kandersteg!
Lene (DK), Bookkeeper
Hello, I am Lene and I'm from Denmark. I live in Brig in Wallis and come to Kandersteg once a week. I have been in Switzerland since 1993 and I find it really nice to live here. In my spare time, I like taking care of my 2 lovely boys. I do a lot of sports, most of all I play badminton. I like skiing too, but I am a little bit afraid of heights.
Linda (DK), Winter 2007
Hello! My name is Linda and I'm (also) from Denmark. Kandersteg is a great place to be, especially if you like crazy people, snow, hugs and good food. 4 good reasons why to spent 3 months in Kandersteg! At least I think so :)
Linda (SW), Winter 2007
Hej, I'm Linda from Sweden. I like snow because it is so useful. It can be used for skiing, sledding, building, digging a shelter to sleep in, and to throw at people. If it was not so cold it would be perfect. I also like games, camp fires and mountains.

Luiz (BR), House Manager
I'm Luiz Gustavo and Scouting says a lot about who I am: friends, values and how do enjoy life. So, it explains why a tropical person like me is here now ... frozen, but happy! Kandersteg is a special place to be a scout and here we have the grateful mission to make it the Permantant Mini Jamboree everyday. Sempre Alerta!

Luke (AU), Catering Assistant
I'm Luke and I cook food. I help our Caterer Michelle by ensuring that we meet our daily quota of Australian cuisine. When I'm not in the kitchen I like to be in the mountains (all we have to do is step outside). We don't get so much snow down-under, so I like to spend every spare moment enjoying the abundance of white stuff in Kandersteg. I live for telemark skiing and sometimes I dabble in a bit of climbing.
Mark (NL), Director
I have been in Switzerland for the past 5 years working both at the Centre and for the World Scout Bureau. I like to hike with my dogs, read and go to the cinema and concerts. I am the proud owner of three beautiful full bred Golden Retrievers answering (well most of the time) to the names of Laika, Pickles and Bodansky. If you can not find me in my office I could be anywhere at the Centre or in the Tearoom eating cakes!
Michelle (MO), Caterer
Hi! My name is Michelle, I'm the French and English chick who does the catering around here! I'm into cooking (obviously), long walks in the sun, skiing and, on rainy days, lounging around in front of the TV drinking hot chocolate. Come visit soon so you can sample my 'amazing' cooking ;)

Mustard (GB), Programme Director
My name is Mustard and I'm from England. I run the Programme Department and make sure that our guests receive an exciting, full and safe programme. I also manage the Short Term Staff and ensure that they have the best 3 month possible when they come to KISC as a volunteer. In my spare time I enjoy playing in the mountains, travelling and falling out of planes.

Nathalie (DE), Administration Assistant
I am Nat and I am the Administration Assistant. In my spare time I like to climb and ski and do all sorts of sports. I hate beans but meat is always welcome.

PI (CH), Maintenance Assistant
Hello, my Name is Pi and I came all the way from the other end of Switzerland, from Basel. As the mountains and scouting are my big passion, I am happy to spend a winter in the middle of the Alps for skiing and touring. During the working days, it is my job to hide myself somewhere in the building and fix the little things which break during the season. There are also some room renovations which have to be done in the off seasons.

Nick (Au), Winter 2007
Well, hi there. I'm from Adelaide, South Australia. I'm a scout leader back home and I really enjoy many outdoor activities, which include camping, canoeing and cross country skiing. Since arriving in Switzerland I have taken an interest in this Sledding: sliding down a slope at ludicrous velocity. I'm looking really forward to meeting everyone who is visiting the centre during Winter 2007!
Roger (NL), Reception Manager
I have a great job here, being in direct contact with everyone who comes to visit us. Every morning I'm still amazed by the scenery here. You would be too if you also came from the flattest country in the world. I like the different challenges this area offers, from skiing to hiking. I'm looking for a sponsor to help me set up a squash court here in Kandersteg, so if anyone has some spare money... ;-)
Tom (IE), Assistant Programme Director
I come from a small town on the west coast of Ireland. I was STS in Summer 2004 and am currently the Assistant Programme Director working in developing and running the activities the Centre offers. You might see me with or without a beard depending on the time of the year. I enjoy climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering and have recently learned to ski.
Ulrika (SE), Winter 2007
Hej! My name is Ulrika and I'm a blond Swedish girl who loves everything that has to do with snow, and to wear pink off course!
