Mountain Huts
In the mountains surrounding Kandersteg there are 9 huts, all in spectacular and unique locations. We highly reccomend this as an alpine experience - in true Swiss style! Bedding and meals are normally included.
Huts can be booked in advance through the Programme Staff in Reception and paid for in cash when you arrive at the hut. KISC has special prices with many of the local huts.

The mountain huts around Kandersteg have set rules and procedures that must be followed. Please use the following points to make sure you have a great experience in one of the world-class Swiss mountain huts:
- Make sure you are quiet at night, there are many guests who wish to get up at 3AM to go and climb a mountain!
- Don’t wear boots inside the hut, there are hut slippers at the front door.
- Don’t bring your rucksack, boots, food or drink inside the sleeping rooms.
- Leave the hut clean and tidy.
Ueschinenhütte (1890m)
Named after the valley it is located in, this is our mountain hut. Available from late May through to mid-October, the hut serves as the perfect base for many of our guided and unguided activities. Offering a fully equipped kitchen and accommodation for 30 people.

Blümlisalphütte (2834m)
The hut is situated on a moraine below the north-west slopes of the Blümlisalp massif and above the Hohtürli. The hut offers 140 beds and restaurant services.
Balmhornhütte (1955m)
The hut lies on a small rock outcrop to the north of Balmhorn, surrounded by green fields high above the Gasterntal. The hut offers 24 beds and limited catering services.

Doldenhornhütte (1915m)
Situated on the edge of a cliff in full view of Kandersteg, and below the towering massifs of Doldenhorn and Fisistock. The hut offers 48 beds and restaurant services.
Fründenhütte (2562m)
The Fründenhütte is situated at the top of a rock knoll, immediately under the Fründen Glacier, between Fründenhorn and Doldenhorn and overlooking Oeschinensee. The best hut in the area which offers a diverse and exciting hiking route with spectacular views. The hut offers 70 beds and restaurant services.

Lämmerenhütte (2502m)
The hut is situated between the mountains just to the west of Gemmipass. One of the most modern huts you will find. The hut offers 96 beds and restaurant services.

Lötschenpasshütte (2690m)
As the oldest passage between Wallis and Bern the Lötschenpass still sees many visitors today. Situated above the Lötschen glacier and the route has been in use since roman times. The hut offers 70 beds and restaurant services.

Mutthornhütte (2900m)
Situated on the rock base below Mutthorn at the Kanderfirn glacier. The hut is only accessible by glacier travel. The hut offers 100 beds and restaurant services.

Schwarenbach Hotel (2,060m)
The hotel is situated on the way to the Gemmipass, and used to be an old border post between the Wallis and Bern. The hotel offers 140 beds and restaurant services.

9 km from Kandersteg in the Gasterntal vally this family owned mountain hotel has been welcoming guests since 1914, assecceble by foot with a nice hike up the valley or by bus once a day. The hotel has 45 beds in different standards of rooms and a restaurant serving traditional Swiss dishes.
