IRW Summer 2017 - Info
International Rover Week Summer 2017 starts on Tuesday 25th of July 2017 until Friday 4th August. During your time at the permanent Mini-Jamboree, you will live together with the other participants on our campsite, surrounded by the world of Scouting that exists at KISC. During the entire week, special Rover Week Helpers will take care of you, ready to answer any questions, help out with the programme and support you in planning activities on your free day. They'll also take part in all of the programme activities offered by the Centre and make sure you'll have the best possible experience in Kandersteg!
We have put together a programme for your stay to guarantee you'll experience the best that KISC and the Alps has to offer; from hiking to interactive workshops, glacier crossings to a BBQ. We've also included suggestions for improvement from participants of previous International Rover Weeks to ensure you have the best possible experience.
We also ask each participant to bring a speciality - be it food, beverages, a folkloristic dance etc. - from their home countries to KISC to take part in the International Evening during the event and share parts of their culture with the other Rovers
Built into the event is also time for you to explore the local area, and even further afield if you want - meaning you can live your own personal adventure too! The rest day in the middle of the week allows you to visit a local town where you can perhaps see some Swiss history, or maybe visit Interlaken, Europe's adventure capital, and take part in the daring High Ropes course. You can even just relax around the village and soak in the beautiful surroundings if ŷou want - the choice is yours. For some ideas, take a look at our KanderActive Summer 2017.
If you're coming to International Rover Week this winter from any of the Swiss airports, you can book a "Scout Transfer Ticket", a return train / bus ticket from any Swiss Airport or Border Crossing to Kandersteg. These tickets cost CHF 87 return, saving you 40% compared to regular Swiss train prices. For further information, please visit our Travelling by Train webpage, but note these tickets need to be ordered in advance.
The cost for the entire week is set at the special price of only CHF 400 Swiss Francs. Included in this price is your accommodation on the campsite, as well as all meals and packed lunch while you’re on activities. The activities offered during the week by the Centre in the International Rover Week's programme are included in the price as well, except for any additional activities you choose to organise for yourself on free days. To round the package off, we've also put an International Rover Week Winter 2017 badge and Scarf in there! Included in the price as well is a traditional Swiss dinner during your stay, and participation on the national Swiss day and birthday of Scouting, August 1st.
We want as many Scouts from far-away countries and other continents as possible to join in the Rover Week and discover the magic of Kandersteg! A special discount on the week for participants from A, B and C countries according to the WOSM categorisation is possible - contact us for more details.
