The Ueschinenhütte

LOCATION AND ACCESS
The Ueschinenhütte, as the name suggests, is in the Ueschinen valley. The valley is well known for its rich grazing pastures and is the summer home to many Swiss farming families. The Ueschinental extends southwards from the Kander Valley in which the main KISC buildings and Campsite are located. It takes about 3 hours to hike to the hut on a combination of road and hiking path. It is also possible to drive to within a 5 minute walk from the hut. The road belongs to the local farmers and a permit must be purchased at the base of the road - SFr. 8.50 will get you one days access to the valley.
The hut may be found at:

DMS: N 46° 27.267’ E 007° 37.300’CATERING
There are two options for catering at the hut. The first option is to bring all your own food and make use of the kitchen facilities - gas and use of the kitchen including pots, pans and cutlery are included in the overnight fee. The second option is to book a hut food package. This means you only carry up the fresh ingredients and make use of the dry non-perishable staples stored in the hut. More details can be found here.
When catering in the hut we also ask that you prepare food for the KISC Staff staying in the hut. This saves everyone the effort of preparing two meals and also helps to contribute to the spirit of international friendship!
WHAT TO BRING
Apart from sheets and the food outlined above, make sure you bring lots of warm clothes and all of the equipment outlined in the Alpine Equipment List [pdf]. It is also a good idea to bring some indoor shoes/slippers if you have them for inside as no hiking boots are allowed inside the hut!
RESERVATIONS
Reservations for the hut may be make through the +programme@kisc.ch (Programme Staff ). The cost of the hut is SFr. 10.00 per person per night and is payable at Reception.
