Hello! I am Jorge!
I am a Helper who is working at KISC since the 13th April. My main job is working in grounds and I want to talk to you about the Work Parties and what have happened the last few weeks.
The first one was the Spanish Work Party (SWP) and with them arrived natural dissasters as well. This time it was a huge storm that caused a “weather warning” and that took down a lot of trees on the Campsite and in the Higildy Pigildy Woods. This was quite hard because there was a lot to do and we were not able to get everything done. But it was a really funny week, like any other SWP.
One week later arrived the Dutch Work Party, they are used to cut down trees and to use the wood chipper. They were here for two weeks in which we cut a lot of trees and infinitely many branches.
Finally the International Work Party came. They are not like the other Work Parties: The IWP is quite different and I learned a lot from working with them and they helped me to get to know the Centre better. With them we finished preparing the Campsite for summer and I am really happy about that.
I really wanted to say that it were five hard weeks but they were worth it, as I got to know a lot of people and learned how to use the different machines that we have at KISC. I am really happy with what we have done. Thanks a lot for their help and I hope they have enjoyed their stay as much as I have.
