The Top Ten Reasons to Smile at KISC30.04.2014
Hej alle sammen. I’m Mark from DenMARK .
If you come and visit me and the Pinkies here at Kandersteg International Scout Centre, you will definitely find me with a big smile on my face. You want to know why?
It's actually pretty hard to explain - you have to experience the magic of Kandersteg!
But I will try explain it to you with a little top 10 list on reasons why I am smiling here at KISC.
Number 10 - FOOD!
We have more then 15 different nationalities on the staff team and we all take shifts in the kitchen, so you get to try a lot of different food. Today I ate Korean and yesterday Italian!
Number 9 - Coffee breaks.
When we, the hard working Pinkies, are not working somewhere at the centre, you will properly find us in the dining hall enjoying a hot cup of coffee or hot cacao on our coffee break and telling each other a good joke.
Number 8 -The awesome nature.
If you have visited KISC before you know all about it and if you haven’t, it’s the first thing you will notice:
We have awesome nature right outside the door. I love that you can do the dishes and look outside and see the beautiful mountains.
Number 7 -The locals
To be honest, my Swiss German is not the best and I don’t look Swiss, but still the locals from Kandersteg are nice and you will always be met with a “Gruetzi” or “Salut” and a smile.
Number 6 - Hugs
The great thing about KISC is that there is always a hug to get. No matter who and where.
Number 5 - Pink in pink
Pink is an awesome colour and you know it! And at KISC you get to wear pink all day long.
Number 4 - Adventure time.
Working at KISC is actually not always work. As a Pinkie you get 1,5 days of a week, and with the awesome mountains outside and only 1 hour to the capital of Switzerland, Bern, there is always new places to see, try and discover.
Number 3 - The weather
As a Short Term Staff in the spring you will have the chance to experience both the winter and the summer weather . So I have been skiing and hiking on the same path in the mountains – that is pretty awesome!
Number 2 - “Let's get the party started”
Ok, let me be honest with you. Cleaning a toilet is not something that normally will make me smile, but the thing is that here at KISC, we always clean toilets with a smile and that is because we always make a party when we work!
Put on Elvis, Johnny Cash or some Danish pop music and doing the cleaning doesn’t feel that hard anymore!
Number 1 - New friends.
KISC is constantly alive and that means that there are always friends coming in and out of the door.
Since I started working at KISC I have met so many new friends from all over the world.
Spain, Mexico, America, the UK, Ireland, Brazil, Korea, Saudi-Arabia, Switzerland, Sweden, Australian, Germany, Portugal, Bulgaria, South Africa, Finland and also Denmark – the whole world is here.
You don’t believe me? That's cool, I told you that you have to experience the magic of Kandersteg.
So while you pack your backpack and order the ticket to Switzerland, I will finish cleaning the toilets – with a big smile on my face!
