The Smiling Unicorn14.04.2012
Hello, my name is Sam, I'm one of the Spring 2012 Shorties. I am 18 years old and I am from Malaysia. In my free time I like to travel around Switzerland to discover new things.
I am really proud to be the only Asian here this Spring 2012 and the 2nd Malaysian that gets to work in the Centre.
I first came to Kandersteg in Winter 2012 when everything was covered in snow and all you could see was plain white - this was the first time I ever saw real snow in my life and at the end of my trip to Kandersteg I learned how cold Winter and especially snow really is.
After this Winter experience, I am really happy I was selected to be one of the Spring 2012 Short Term Staff! Spring is a really special season, because you get to see 2 different types of seasons. For example you can still see the snow in early March, but then you also witness how the flowers and trees start to bloom in April-May and you can finally feel the warm air of Summer in June.
Being a Pinkie and working at the Kandersteg International Scout Centre really is one of the best things that happened in my life, because here I get the chance to learn about lots of different cultures and meet lots of people from different countries. But the most awesome thing about being a Pinkie here at KISC is that we do a lot of strange stuff and have fun. I've only been here for 1 month but I already had a ton of fun being a Pinkie.
To finally answer the question that everyone is trying to answer in their blog post: I probably got picked to be Smile of the Week because my hair always spikes up like the horn of a unicorn. So some of the others call me the the smiling unicorn.
