The can-do attitude!22.07.2015
When the announcement for Smile of the Week was being given I had just, perhaps appropriately enough, left the queue for lunch and was down in the stock room grabbing some new paper towels for the dining hall. This type of can-do attitude and willingness to help each other out is one which I’ve further learnt from the people who surround me, and is something which KISC has an absolute surplus of – I’ve never been anywhere where the staff are not only so capable but are also so generous with their time and skills.
I feel lucky to be voted Smile of the Week, as I know that every week every single staff member will have acted in a way to deserve recognition. With Summer being the largest, most intense season, there are private scenes of generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness occurring everywhere, from the highest peak down to the smallest of gestures, all of which add up to make KISC a truly special place.
I am naturally a competitive person – the thrill of a chase, the worthy effort of battle to beat a foe (or even your own fears), the sweet taste of victory. But I also think it is incredibly important that you find the time and space to search yourself, to discover what it is in you that you really care about, and appreciate the true wonder and magic of living in this world. What better place to do all of this than at KISC, the true Permanent Mini-Jamboree! There are times when you don’t always want to smile, and that’s fine – but for the other 99% of the time, a grin and happy attitude will take you farther than can possibly imagine!
