SPRING IS HERE!17.04.2013
The spring has finally arrived in Kandersteg (one month late but, it is here now) with sunny beautiful days and the snow has started to go away… at least in the valley. This also means many loud avalanches can be heard from the tops of the mountains (those not-so-little mountains named the Alps) that surround us in every direction. So if you are around and hear a big noisy sound… look up and you might catch sight of a huge one or a new waterfall coming down.
The Agora meeting took place this week and the participants have just left the Chalet. They were all active Rovers sent by their National Scout Organisations to learn, discuss and bring new ideas and solutions home to their respective rover programs focusing on the 3 themes: citizenship, youth empowerment and program planning. Throughout the busy days a lot of knowledge and inspiration were gained from across nations, but the program also allowed them to get a little taste of the magic of KISC with a village walk, campfire and a wonderful international evening together with all the pinkies. The 32 participants from more than 10 countries across the whole of Europe enjoyed their time here at KISC and all returned home with lots of inspiration, ideas and of course new friends. We thank them for choosing us as their venue for this year and hopefully it will not be the last time we see them in Kandersteg. If you want to know more about them and the inter-regional Agora, please visit: http://rovernet.eu/agora2013/
This week we also welcomed three new Long Term Staff members to join our Pinkie team to start preparing for the next high season in Summer: Gert-Jan from the Netherlands as Grounds and Maintenance Assistant, Harry from United Kingdom as Catering Assistant and Diogo from Portugal as Campsite Assistant, We wish them well in their new positions.
We are expecting lots of scouts to visit us throughout the year but especially for our Jubilee Weekend, a special celebration in our Jubilee year. You may join us… check out the information here: http://www.kisc.ch/events/90-years-living-the-dream/
