Spanish Work-Party week!03.05.2013
What a week it has been at KISC! Spring has well and truly set in, as wild flowers poke their heads through the turf and the sun shines on the Chalet and Campsite (when it's in the mood).
This week we have welcomed a very special group of people, the Spanish Work Party! They have been here all week to assist the Pinkies in preparing the Campsite and other aspects of the Centre for the high season. There are several things we love about the Spanish work party:
They help us get a LOT more work done than we would be able to otherwise, they work hard, they are lots of fun and we get to play football against them!
The 'infamous' annual football match (or soccer where I'm from): Pinkies against Spain finally took place this week. Since the dawn of time, the Spanish Work Party has been victorious against the Pinkies. However the tables were turned as the Pinkies made 'KISCtory' by beating the Spanish in a close and spectacular 6 - 5 win. The selectors were undecided for man/woman of the match, however Jon (GB)'s early goal and our beloved Greenie, Alvaro (ES) put on a show as goalie. Other highlights include creative chants from both sides, oranges at half-time and a highly spectacular rock-fall in the latter part of the game that stopped play. The Spaniards put on a great show and the game was a load of fun for all involved.
In general, guest numbers are growing, the air is warming, tents are popping up around the Campsite, new long term staff are starting work, and there is a special air of excitement at Kandersteg International Scout Centre. Summer is coming, we think you should too!
