Smiling at the Winter Beauty of Kandersteg19.02.2016
As a Pinkie this winter season life has had it up and downs, but nothing has been like the continued busy program schedule of ski week. This week I have had the opportunity to lead several Gemmi Hike N’ Sleds perhaps my favorite activity of the Winter Season. Sledding down from Gemmi pass, Daubensee, or Schwarenbach just alone can make anyone smile while having fun in this Winter Wonderland of Switzerland. Waking up every morning to the beauty of the snow covered alps of Kandersteg makes me reflect upon the reasons why I came to Kandersteg International Scout Center (KISC) as a short termer this season. This is my first winter season coming to KISC, which makes it super special for me. Summer may have the highest influx of guest. However, nothing compares to the unique winter atmosphere at KISC during Christmas, New Years, and February Ski Week.
Even though the days this week are filled with strenuous work schedules, and tiresome duty calls one can still have the time to smile and work to ensure that all guest have a remarkable time at KISC. I enjoy sharing with the guest all the unique facts about the village, mountains, valleys, and huts while hiking though this grand Winter Wonderland. It even makes me smile more knowing that the guests are having fun, and learning. It was my own guest experience during summers of 2013 and 2014 that made me interested in becoming a Pinkie. Only if I can share with others my enthusiasm about this magical beautiful snowy place of Kandersteg maybe I will inspire a guest this Winter Season to becoming a future Pinkie.
