Our Christmas Diary27.12.2009
19th December - The training week for the new Short Term Staff has come to an end. Our 12 new Staff members are now wearing pink and are proud to be called Pinkies!
20th December - It's finally time to decorate the Centre with balls, tinsels, Xmas trees and lights, more lights... lights everywhere! Coordinated by Magdaléna (CZ) - Guest Services Director, the Pinkies created fine compositions in Xmasy style and made sure that not a single corner of the Chalet Ground Floor remained bare.
A special thanks to Mark (NL) - Director as without his real passion for Xmas decoration and experience regarding the amount of Xmas lights needed we would not have achieved such a high standard of Xmas atmosphere.
21st December - Arrivals start! Today the first guests which will join us for the Christmas period are arriving from Germany. In the next days more families and individual guests from the Netherlands, Monaco and UK will arrive.
23rd December - The excitement level is growing now hour after hour, the very last things are being done. We just need some more snow, let's hope to wake up in a white wonderland tomorrow!
24th December - In a white but not-too-very-white landscape our guests and Pinkies are celebrating Christmas together! So "Happy Christmas eveybody!" and do not forget to get a kiss under some mistletoe!
The Chalet is full of life, happiness and Xmas carrols in the air - there is no way to escape the Santa Baby tune! While some of our guests are out enjoying some skiing, the Pinkies are preparing for the evening and also getting their website pictures done. Dinner time comes and it is Fondue Chinoise in a perfectly arranged Dining Hall. Everything is proceding fine and after a welcoming moment and a scout prayer it is time to enjoy the meal and chat away.
As we believe Christmas is not only what TV shows us in a very consumerist way, the dinner is followed by the service at the village church and then each family, group and even the Staff has the chance to have a spot on their own to exchange the gifts.
25th December - More Christmas celebrations! Oh yeah... we love Christmas! The day is perfect to go and enjoy the area surrounding the Centre both for skiing, snowboarding or maybe just for a stroll. The atmosphere is very cozy and everybody, guests and Staff, feels like a family and enjoy little chit-chats and smiles. Our Catering Staff is busy preparing various delicacies for the Christmas Day Dinner and the Dining Hall has been once again transformed into a magical location.
The day passes by very fast and it is suddenly time for chestnuts and glühwein in the snow just outside the Chalet. There we are visited by some funny creatures from the village, they have strange and sometimes scary appearance but no worries, they will just make some noise to scare away the bad spirits and then have some chestnuts! Dinner follows shortly after and it is not disappointing anybodys expectations! Everything is delicious and after dinner it's movie time!
26th December - Just in time to clear away the wrapping paper left around, it's time to welcome some special guests: the ex-Staff! A whole bunch, around 80, of former Pinkies came back to the Centre to celebrate 2010 together and to catch up as good friends! It's ex-Staff Reunion time!
27th December - It is the first day of Ski Week 1 and the Centre is absolutely fully booked! Many arrivals, check ins, ski equipment and passes to sort out and the first evening activities - sledding and igloo building!
28th December It's snowing!!
Our guests are out skiing and snowboarding and in the meantime at the Centre we are getting ready for Swiss Culture Night! There will be cheese fondue, rösti and alphorn players and much more!
Coming soon New Year's Eve celebration, more Ski Weeks and hopefully more snow!
Stay tuned with KISC latest news!
