Back from holiday and a lots has happened at the Kander-Lodge.
In the photo album of the Kander-Lodge 10 new pictures have been added with some of the visual results.
All the tilling, plastering and carpeting is done on the complete 1st floor and the entrance area. The Carpenter has mounted all the doors and most of the painting of the doors and doorframes has been done. The foundations of the noice reduction wall (between railway and Kander-Lodge) have been set and the electriciens are busy installing and connecting all the light fittings and the fire alarm system.
Last Monday the huge IKEA order arrived and for a week the basement of the Kander-Lodge gave the impression that Kandersteg got its own IKEA outlet! With the delivery also the new kitchen for the Staff Lounge arrived and was installed. During last week also the concrete underflooring (including insulation and floor heating) was 'poured' in the flat roof part of the building and the new Guest Laundry. The aim of the game is to have these areas finished by beginning of July.
This week lots of different companies are working at the Kander-Lodge as well as the Dutch Work Party and most of the staff. The whole outside area of the Kander-Lodge is being finished with trees, grit and the 'Snowstar' fountain. The noice reduction wall has been finished and it really makes a difference in the bedrooms. Slowly but steadily the rooms are being cleaned from the end of the building onwards and IKEA furniture is being assembled and placed in rooms - it looks really good!!
The foundations for the emerengy exit bridge at the end of the building are made and the bridge will be placed next week Tuesday. The bridge will also serve as the entrance to the Staff Accommodation.
Besides that all the preparations for the opening ceremony are gaining speed and the guest list is rapidly filling up. I am counting down and only 11 days to go!!
Great to be back again at KISC.
