A busy week in the Kander-Lodge!
Paul has been busy with moving windows around and making additional holes in the walls on the 1st Floor to fit new windows in. Today the new windows in the 6 bed dorm room have been installed. Instead of 4 small top lights the room now has 5 proper windows with 2 of them on the south side of the building. Also 1 of the Staff Studios now has 4 proper windows instead of only 2 (the space was originally 2 small bedrooms for tunnel techniciens).
At the same time, with the help of 4 helpers (Michael, Alex, Mark & Helga) the first of many ceilings have gone in in the Staff Studio at the back of the building. It is the aim to put ceilings in over the full width of the building and then move forward so that the Sprinkler company can follow the ceiling with the sprinkler heads.
In the basement the basin for the sprinkler pump is being built. The inside will be covered in a layer of concrete and there will be a drain leading to the floor drain. At the same time a wall is built over the full width of the basement as the area of the basin need to be an enclosed area. In the new wall a door opening of 120cm wide directly opposite the basement entrance will be created. For both 'door frames' the doors are being ordered.
Coming week the aim is to finish the outside of the building where additional window are placed and to get as many ceilings constructed as possible. On Wednesday the architect and I will go and have a look at tiles to decide which tiles we need to floors and walls. As well as carpets!
Till next week.
