How could I not smile at that!05.06.2016
Exactly one year ago I had my first trip to Switzerland, and my first season at KISC, all excited and nervous and unknowing for what was about to happen.
Fast forward back to the present and I am once again sitting in a beautiful little Swiss village, mountains towering around me but the love and passion of my fellow Scouts also filling me with joy each day. In this special place no challenge seems too hard to succeed in, no mountain too high to pass and seemingly no end to the fun you can have with your friends. My season as a Summer Shortie in 2015 was one of the best times of my life, and so to be back here this year as High Adventure Assistant is a dream come true.
The feeling of pride and accomplishment when you complete a challenging hike, when you climb to the top of a sheer rock wall, or even when you support your team mates to the top of a 11m Jacobs Ladder, is one that I am blessed to be able to provide to so many thousands of people from literally all around the world. In the 6 weeks I’ve been here at KISC I’ve learnt a quite incredible amount, both in terms of technical skills, but also about myself, and I’ve also had the privilege of working and laughing and living with the most inspirational group of people you could ever hope to meet in your life. With the Spring Season now drawing to an end and the Summer knocking its weighty hand upon our door, it is bittersweet to have to say bye to one group of great people - but I feel safe and happy in the knowledge that this Summer will prove to be every bit as special and crazy - how could I not smile at that!
