Ground Floor - Week 49/0930.11.2009
We do not even count the weeks anymore... is it week #10? Maybe #12? It doesn' t really matter anymore, things are going faster than in a downhill skiing competition lately! Mighty Paul and his crew are working hard to get things done in time. They are starting early, fininshing late, drinking lots of coffees and still having fun. Also in the last weeks a few different external company have been in to do some specific jobs, from the heating to the carpet on the floor.
The very interesting thing is that this fast everyday work routine doesn't involves anymore just Paul, the STS and the other workers but all of us! There is a chance for everybody to help, so among lots of people running around carrying material, painting ceilings, you may spot our Marketing Manager - Conny (NL) cleaning windows, our Programme Director - Tom (IE) varnishing wooden boards and our Director - Mark (NL) vacuum cleaning the floors here and there. We are going far and we are doing it together!
But now let's get technical and pass on the updates about the ground floor landscape! It would be pretty easy to get confused at this point as everything has a shape, its very final shape and everything is so new and different! So here is a short resume that will get you through all the bits and pieces happened in the last days till today.
Some of the Pinkies and Mark moved to the new office and started moving around furniture, setting up desks and shelves and getting comfortable in their new environment. Now everything is in place and it really feels like we have been working in this office for months - even the plants are blooming! The heating and the LAN network were fixed, the ceilings completed and the new Reception counter installed which stands now visible to everybody, bright and impressive. The corridors have been completed with the linoleum floor, wooden boards on the walls and with some more painting. The Reception ceiling has been finished and painted.
In the new Hall the walls have been completed with the plaster board. Also the Eco Room and the ex-Programme Office area have been finished and now we are moving some furniture in. The Reception area floor has been finished and waiting one day for it to dry we are able to walk through again.
In the coming days, which are not only the last ones of the Autumn season, but also the last ones of this renovation project we are planning on getting the common rooms and the Reception completely set up and clean. There is quite a lot of fine dust to wipe away and a lot of stationary, leaflets and furniture to assemble. In the same time the vending machine and the coffee machine for the Reception area should arrive and the electricity should be completely fixed in the new Hall.
There some other little things going on but we are now getting closer to the finish. We can even see the finish line with all the camera flashes and the satysfactory "victory' feeling! It is just a little more to go... but you know skiing downhill so fast it cannot really take long!
Keep an eye on our ground floor stories, soon more update!
