Ground Floor - Week #3: The Concrete Floor08.10.2009
In the past few days Paul and the STS have been working hard helping with the new concrete floor, preparing the walls for plastering and getting ready to break down some walls.
A concrete floor has been poured over the area that originally included the Leaders' Room, the Director's Office and the Swing Office. It was a long, hard day of work. It took another 3 days before our pink crew could start walking on it again. The view of the Old Chalet with a massive truck full of concrete parked just outside in between the Guest Kitchens and the stairs was much unexpected and quite eye-catching!
Everything is starting to get in shape... a new shape!! It is already possible to spot a few of the new doorways around the ex Old Main Hall for example the one that goes into the Lounge Area. Some of the walls in the ex OMH are also getting plastered, slowly but steady the surfaces are starting to look different.
In the coming days things will get busier and the story more juicy as our renovations will extend to the Reception Area, Coffee Bar and Shop. The Reception Office with all its pink "inhabitants" is already in motion, folders are getting piled and carried here and there and the pinkies are getting ready to be relocated into new temporarily but efficient working spaces.
All the decorations are also getting packed away... or in the case of all the scarves rolled away! It is going to be an awesome and long week of work for Paul and his crew stripping down walls and linoleum floors... but we bet they will have a lot of fun too!
