Excited for Spring22.03.2012
My second week here at KISC, but the first week as real Pinkie, and I’ve been elected “Smile of the Week”, what else? Actually I’m very surprised of that, but I’m not the one who can complain for that.
I’m Santos from Spain, and as I said before, this is my second week here at KISC, because I’ve just arrived here to be part of the Short Term Staff (STS) during this Spring. So far I think this time is going to be awesome. Not only because of the very special atmosphere that surrounds this magical place and the opportunity to enjoy everything that makes out this magic (the people on staff, the international friendship, activities, the Alps, the nature, and definitely scouting), but also because of the season itself: Right now we are enjoying the winter weather and landscapes (as in the picture, a lot of snow right now!) and the activities that go with it: skiing, sledding, playing curling), while later, from April on everything will become spring-like: weather, landscape, nature, new activities, more and even better hikes. I’m very excited for that, but meanwhile I’m enjoying the snow.
Last week, all new STS were training for all the jobs that we are going to do during this seaoson. I can tell you, it's going to be a lot of work - from serving meals to deep-cleaning the rooms, doing check-ins, running the woodburner for heat and hot water, operating the shop, or doing the laundry. At the same time it also meant trying to learn all the names of every other Pinkie, but, as with every work, the Long Term Staff are helping us as hard as they can every time. By the way, thanks to all the Greenies for being here helping in the Centre to make our training possible!
Personally, everything here is new for me, I’ve never been here before. It’s my first time in KISC and I now understand why all my friends who came here before told me how amazing this place is, seeing all the scarves from around the world hanging everywhere in the Chalet and Kanderlodge, getting to know nice scouts from many different countries. And as it is only my second week, all of this is just the beginning!
I’m ready to share my time with all of you, don’t have a doubt and come to KISC!
