I’m Irene from Baden, Switzerland. I’m one of the Winter Shorties (aka Short Term Staff) here at KISC. To be a Shortie in winter is awesome because you can do a lot of skiing, sledding and cross country skiing. I have done a lot of these activities over the last two weeks.
Last week it was Belle Époque in Kandersteg. The whole village turned into the traditional village it was 100 years ago. One of the highlights of Belle Époque was the Bob Sledding. As a Swiss person I’m of course endowed with a great sledding talent and acted as one of the sledge pilots. These sledges were made for 3 people and had a steering wheel and a brake at the back. The brake is only for people who fear speed and so we didn’t use it at all! Because of this my teammates Nicole (AU), Sean (US) and I achieved the second best time of the whole race. Yeah! Maybe it was also because Pavel (CZ) gave us a good push at the start.
This week it turned really cold here at Kandersteg, but the temperature didn’t stop us going ski touring on Friday and freeze on the top of Schwarze Grätli in -25 degrees. Yesterday there was another highlight of the week with Nordic day. The whole Staff Team participated as Crazy Pinkies in the cross country race. I’m sure we would have won the prize for the best entertainment, as we were dressed up crazy and chanting during the entire race.
I bet you’re asking yourself if we ever work here at KISC. Yes, sure! As you can see on the picture I’m wearing dirty pants and that’s because we were painting the floor of the laundry link the last few days. It was hard work but also a lot of fun as is everything we do here at KISC.05.02.2012
